Granted, but it's not like Eichel had Team Germany around him. This isn't to say that he's going to be a terrible player. He's going to be very good, possibly great. McDavid is just going to be that much better. There was no excuse for the no-shows against Canada or Russia. Darnell Nurse ate him alive.

That contract ties them up in the future when these guys, which we all hope turn out as good as we project them to be, are up for contracts.
