Comparing what they did as 21 year olds is one thing, over a 15 year career is another. How long will RNH play and how durable will he be? Injuries also play into it. I'm ok with the math, you just can't compare the two at this point in time.

A lot of this stems from what the definition of soft is. You are arguing being soft means you get hurt a lot since you use the argument that henrik has played so many games without missing many due to injury.

Most everyone else is arguing that being soft means you get pushed around and hit a lot which over a long period of time can hamper effectiveness, especially in the playoffs.

Edit: By your definition a guy like Peter Forsberg, who had his fair share of injuries was soft.... I don't think anyone who watched him play would call him soft (minus the diving stuff he did for a while).

You can't argue Nuge isn't a #1C, because by definition he is one by being on the first line of the Oilers. You can debate whether or not he is a top 10, 20 or 30 amongst his peer group, but it remains to be seen where he ends up when he is in his prime. We can't predict the future, but the early returns show there is a potential to be a top 10 C in this league.

- massa_3

The comment was 'a soft POS'. POS means piece of poop. Henrik is not a soft piece of poop. He's 6th on the all time consecutive games played. He's the #1 centre on the canucks so he's always targeted by the opposing teams hardest players to play against. His point totals (regular season) are crazy and he was able to win Hart and Art Ross tophies in a single season. Take a look at his playoff production level. He's not the reason why the canucks haven't had playoff success.

He's not a soft POS. That's where the arguement ends. I don't give a poop about who's definition is right.

I never compared Henrik's supposed softness to RNH's softness. Two separate comments. Plus I never commented about RNH's softness. I just said he's got tiny shoulders for a #1 centre. That will probably change over time.

At this point in his career I don't think it's fair to say he's a definite #1 centre on a team like the leafs. Not experienced enough and needs to get some size before being a #1 centre. Leaf fan wasn't taking about being a true #1 centre 3-5 years from now.

I don't understand your Forsberg comment. You're just trolling there.

I agree about RNH's potential. I would have him on my team in a second. But enough with the potential talk. Let's start looking at the now.

Is fe a #1C as compared to other established #1C in the league such as Crosby, Getzlaf, Kopitar, Toews, etc, is the starting point. RNH, given his skills and abilities, is definitely in the 20-11 range. But the interesting part would be the #2C that could be #1C, such as Malkin for example.

RNH is 21, he isn't even in his "prime years" yet. Like you said, evidence shows he is capable of being a top 10 1C.

- ChetManly

I agree and it doesn't just go for RNH. This whole team is young and the most talented are not in their prime and probably won't be for a few more years. I think the jury is out on all of them. Anyone judging them with the way the whole team has been playing doesn't understand hockey. Most great players in the league (with 3 or so exceptions) have great line mates. As Hall and Eberle improve so will RNH. Take Smyth for example. All heart no skill but his career numbers were good because he played top line. Or Hemsky. Doing average here but you put him with Spezza last year and he lit it up. Or John Leclair. Looked like a bust in Toronto but traded to Philly and the guy became a star (I can go on).

they asked Draisaitl if he wanted to go, he said no. I don't understand how this isn't common knowledge....

I'm sure when he said no he thought he was staying up. If they said you were getting sent down regardless he would've went to the juniors.

Bolded - that's your opinion. Is he more of a #2 on better teams, yes.

Game 7 - that was only JB, #shutupJB

As for the comparisons, it's already been pointed out.

RNH is 21, he still has 3-5 years until he is in his prime years.

- ChetManly

So you agree with me?

Let's stop with the comparisons please. That was Potato and I'm not taking heat for his poop.

I agree that RNH is 3 years away from being a dominant #1 centre. I just hope oil management don't (frank) him up. Not saying they will...

So the problem with this team is simply the worst goal tending in the league?
Seriously?

The Oilers have issues throughout the line-up, goaltending is a problem but there is no chance that everyone gets a passing grade except for them.

- willey101

I am late on this but I had to ring it. Yes willey, all Oilers fans believe the only problem with the team is the goal tenders. We haven't notice our lack quality centers, the fact that most of our d is all 3-6 type guys or the possibility that some have already given up.

Nope, if we had Rinne, Lundquist or Rask we would win the cup. Why do we let Habs fans post?

I don't agree with you. I understand the arguement that on a MUCH BETTER TEAM THAN THE OILERS, RNH would most likely end up as a 2C.

BUT

On the Oilers, RNH is the 1C as that is the position he plays as he is the most talented. Therefore, RNH is a 1C. Hell, if you want, we can see he is a 1C by default. Is that an agreeable solution to end this stupid conversation that never should've happened?
