I don't know who will take Kessel and Phaneuf...the pipe dream proposals of trading those guys for younger guys on the ELC won't happen, no team is going to give up a 950k young gun and take on 7m+ in Cap space.

Guys like Clarkson, Lupul, Bozak, and maybe JVR are more likely to be sold off for dirt cheap

If they trade him, they won't be getting youth back, its probably going to be guys starting to be in their declining years and a package of players to match cap hits.

Avs dont have the cap room to take on Phil, they would get worse not better since they would have burn up even more valuable space that should be used to add better D/Depth guys.

You guys could be interesting. Hall Nuge Kessel would be a crazy top line. But he has a NTC right? I think he needs to go to a non traditional market and avoid the media.

I think gms would be smart enough to see through all that Toronto media bullpoop. A couple comparable trades could be:

Bobby Ryan - 2 prospects and 1st.
Marion Gaborik - 2c, 2nd pairing d (excluding all the throw ins)

No place for Phil on Edmonton, they need more character guys and defense before they get yet another offensive winger. Phaneuf would be a better fit for both Colorado and Edmonton.

Dion would be playing with EJ and thats not a bad top pairing. If Dion isn't the top guy think thats better suited for him.

But I don't want Dion for 7m...if anyone is going to get paid that kind of cash its EJ. If Leafs retained 1m-2m on him, sure its more reasonable. But against that contract is so bad.
