i love(d) that (frank)ing team. my favorite behind the mid 80s teams. i slot the mid-late 90s teams third.
i'm still bitter about 2004. - hammarby31
If they stayed healthy they were winning the Cup. Tampa beat us by one goal in game 7 and Kapanen was playing defense and Primeau and Roenick with concussions among all the other injuries. |

A healthy Desjardins and/or Johnsson and they win the Cup. |

Almost more importantly than controlling the Ovi line, is keeping tight to Ovi on the PP. It utterly shocks me how easily and often he scores from the same position without teams adjusting to stop it. He does the same thing over and over and it seems to go impossibly unnoticed. - JAKEw1234
oh my god it frustrates the hell out of me when he scores on the powerplay. Its the same thing every time. Green or backstrom feeds ovie the puck and he just one times it. He either scores or they cycle the puck back to green or backstrom, feed ovie, one timer, he either scores or repeat. on the PK one of our players should just be glued to him the whole time. I guarantee it'd throw a monkey wrench in their plans of just letting ovie blast the puck.

i'm well versed in the story of that season, as i witnessed most of it in person. game 6 of the ecf is still the greatest game i've experienced, and i've been to some good ones.
and i agree had they been healthy they beat that (frank)ing tampa team. might have even pulled it off had they had home ice. so gddamn close. |

Nothing to argue. We aren't in the best place financially right now. We have at least 2 big contracts that are considered burdens to us. We have a huge over 35 contract who doesn't even play anymore, which gives us a considerable cap obstacle every offseason. What I try to look at is how bright the future is. Within 3 years, nearly all of our burden contracts will be gone. Our highly regarded prospects will be well on their way to becoming effective NHL players. Our GM has displayed, and followed through with, a mindset suggesting good cap management and team building for the future. My only worry for this team's future right now is the coach. I liked him a lot early last season, but now I really don't see him as our coach of the future. - JAKEw1234
yup our best players will continue to waste their best years here while the other components take years to acquire/develop... dont trade anything hextall... just old defensemen for 3rd rounders |

Hope? Let me tell you something, my friend. Hope is a dangerous thing. Hope can drive a man insane. It's got no use on the inside. You'd better get used to that idea. - jmatchett383

let's be honest: nobody eats onion rings because they like onions. It's just an adequate structure to deliver fried batter.
FACT
(also, I'm impartial) |

Whats the script for tonight?
Washington comes out like the fresher team even though they spent all last night skating circles around the Maple Leasts and the Flyers had the night off? |

We'll start with this statement, which points out how much of a moron the author is.
"The Flyers could easily have replaced those contracts with Jason Akeson or Taylor Leier, and I almost guarantee it would make a noticeable difference, for the better, while only using about $2 million in cap space." |
