Great that doesn't mean his play has been worthy enough to warrant staying in the lineup.
His overall play has not been good, okay, or any other word people want to use. You can defend him all you'd like but being a scratch now would suggest he's not been playing well and now the coaches feel he needs to sit.
And yes I know the team as a whole the team is well below par in doing their jobs individually and as a group - ob18
I disagree. I think his overall play has been solid. And I gave data that supports that. That he's has been scratched could very well be simply that Berube wants the more physical Schenn in the lineup. MacDonald has been moving and handling the puck well, jumping up into the offense and applying himself more aggressively in the offensive zone, and defending well.

All depends on where the Flyers pick. If they are around that 10-13 ish where I think they end. Rantanen all the way.
On second thought. They are 25th in the league. Damn. That would be a reach for Mikko. |

Too early to even make that guess or give an idea of who I'd like or who they may even have a realistic shot at drafting. |

It's really not in my opinion. It is about depth, wanting a more physical element, and Del Zotto played well last game, and MacDonald had a subpar game, so he sits. - MJL
yeah i just disagree.
unless its something glaring that we just dont know about, such as blowing things off in practice or whatever and theyre just using a one game thing to just really drive the point home, i just cant see it as a good sign. youre being paid that much. thats not someone being paid to be a part time player who can be sat to fit in with a specific game plan.
if this was del zotto we were talking about, then i could see it. he is that lower pairing, specific skill set type of player that could rotate in or out. |

You are free to take whatever stance you want & if that's the way the coach feels I'd like to believe Homer/Hextall even knew this last year & that signing him would not be in the teams best interest.
And now get the fact I don't agree with you and/or your stance & do not carry this out with me for hours/days/weeks or even longer because I gave my opinion & have already moved on. |

I asked a question a few days ago. It was, how many players on the Flyers roster are playing markedly worse than expected? Based on trends, recent past performance and realistic expectations given usage & roles played, my answer was 2.
Read and Coburn.
There are guys playing poorly, but nobody else is playing so badly that no reasonable fan would really be able to say there was no indication he'd play this way. There's the issue. - Jsaquella
i really like reads well rounded game, and i defend coburn a lot too. but its hard to disagree here. i know coburn isnt that top pairing stud. but he has been below his own typical merits this season, and its really hurting the team. |

Once is a message. Twice is pretty serious.

Del Zotto was better last game, that's why he stays in. One game isn't a big deal, if it carries on and he's sitting for longer, then there might be an issue.

Read playing as poorly as he is is killing this team. That's how important he has been to this team in past seasons. Combine with Umberger, I think it's really hurting Couturier also. - MJL
yeah. read is really hurting the team as well. no other way to cut it. |

Holmgren traded for him and signed him, and Hextall was the assistant GM at the time, so why would they do that if they felt it wasn't in the teams best interest?

yeah. this is how i see it.
i dont really think he has. he hasnt been spectacular. but he has been okay. but for better or worse he is a guy that this team is going to need to rely on given how heavily they are invested into him.
he is paid to be your paul martin. |

An intriguing name to think about is Brandon Carlo who was on the USA world junior team that bring size, speed, mobility, and a physical edge. Just not as much offense yet but you can see signs it's there. |

It's not really to specifically call them out.
It's more to show that outside of two guys, there's not really anyone else that's playing unexpectedly poorly.
Umberger's playing badly, but he did last season. It's not a sudden "Wow, this guy's playing like crap!" Brayden Schenn & Wayne Simmonds have been streaky scorers. Since that's been the case with both, how is it a surprise that it's happened again this year?
The defense is made up of guys who have struggled when asked to take on bigger roles, that's happening now...how is it unexpected. That's my point. There's not 7 or 8 guys having abnormally bad seasons. |

NHL and entertainment boys are getting sad over lost revenue to their ever growing disparity between rich and poor. Cant have enough gold toilet seats.
My usual site, wiziwig was shut down for new year. Used myp2p before that, and adthe before. New sites always spring up.
Check out wiziwig.to , not the real version but generally has a feed or two. Lower quality will admit. Wont stop the pirating, I think the closure of piratebay showed that. Go f themselves. Rant over. |

They had to have some clue knowing the person Berube is and had to have asked him what kind of style & players he wanted before they even offered him the position right away and not on an interim basis.
They panicked |

Who was that Russian d-man at the Juniors, very impressive.
Jaros is another guy who could be a steal. Tower of strength, and even with some footspeed questions handling the best of his age group game after game. Dare I say looked much better than Morin. Both play a very similar game. |

Yeah, he's huge, and a righty. If they finish outside of the top 8-10, I'd be happy to trade down to get him... maybe add another top-60 pick. |

He'd be a guy to look at if they do end up with a pick between 20-30. He looked good in the one game I saw him play |
