Gavrikov right. Played very well.
Morin is what he is. There were reasons people thought he was a reach and some wanted Pulock/Morrissey instead. So be it. - flyer_nutter
Only time will tell with Moran.
It's way too early to decide who would've been a better pick. |

I don't think Morin was a reach we know at least Montreal was trying to move up and take him, would I have preferred a Morrissey sure but personally I have no problem with the pick. - ob18
You knew my rage when Zadorov was off the board. |

Caps are legit. They're a good team. I actually think they're built better for the playoffs now than they ever were before. - PhillySportsGuy

He's more of less a similar player who was one of I think 3 players on D that I was looking at besides Morin. |

That's a really good shift by that line. it's good to see that kind of effort rewarded. |

Meh, I maintain that they would have a Cup already if they had just stuck it out w/ those high-octane Boudreau teams. Those teams were legitimately frightening to play against. - Tomahawk
They were made to play aggressive hockey and ran from it. Some match-ups are just better than others.
Flyers got lucky before meeting Chicago. Need the pieces to fall into place. Boston won with a d-first scheme, and Chicago has shown it can be done with something different. |

Shutdown Ovi line, and we have a chance. Cant let the other teams best player beat you. Have to play disciplined as well; guys like Ovi and Backstrom only need but so many chances on the PP to make an impact in the game.
Our only focus right now is this game. 1 at a time.
I also like the AndyMac scratching. I was at the Ottawa game and he was easily the worst of our defensemen. His gap control is getting better, I will say. - mochoson

Read makes that play last year. His confidence must be zero. |

Playoffs could actually be fun this year.
Nashville and Winnipeg able to give good scares out West.
Tampa and Montreal maybe to change up who comes out of the East. - flyer_nutter
I think the east is pretty weak this year. Makes it fun because it's wide open, but I think at least 4 west teams would be the best in the east. |

Couturier pretty much maintaining a 0.5 ppg pace, which is pretty damned good considering his role on this team, with this motley blue line.

Ya, people have to remember that he'll still be 19 when we draft our next 1st round prospect in late June. Dude's got a lot of time to grow still. |

Holtby's a good goalie, and their defense, while expensive, has a good mix on it.
More importantly, Ovechkin's happy and more motivated than he seemed under Oates and Hunter. He's got the kind of talent that can take a solid team and make it a really good team. - Jsaquella
Ovi is the biggest difference in that team. I think Trotz has him playing at a real high level again.
I loved his quote when he met with Ovechkin. "Ovi, if you wanna be -35, you better score 90 goals for me" |

The guy that really brings everything together for them is Brouwer... plays a featured role in all situations, can play anywhere up front, 60% on FO's, defensive-conscience, scoring touch and jam.
IMO, he's quietly one of the best PF's in the league right now. |

I know people hate Montreal, but I respect the tradition and always enjoyed that goal horn. Passionate fans even if a bit stuck up.
Tampa is just fun to watch.
Tired of seeing the same old LA, Chicago and Bruins theme. Give me someone new. |

I actually think Nashville might be the dark horse team this year to make a big run in the playoffs. That Defense and goalie combo they have is scary good. And they can score goals like they couldn't in the past.

Montreal fans are kind of fun when they come to the WFC. |

You are free to take whatever stance you want & if that's the way the coach feels I'd like to believe Homer/Hextall even knew this last year & that signing him would not be in the teams best interest.
And now get the fact I don't agree with you and/or your stance & do not carry this out with me for hours/days/weeks or even longer because I gave my opinion & have already moved on. - ob18

The -35 was overplayed by the media, but when Ovi was playing for Boudreau, he was having fun, he played hard, scored amazing goals and was a joy to watch. the last few years, he seemed like a guy going to his job at a law office.
But he's got that glint again, seems to be enjoying himself again. |
