That AAV will look like pennnies in a few years. Good deal for a reliable top 4 defenseman

I do agree, but if I remember correctly, it's something along the lines of 4.25 mil until the end of 16/17

We should be the ones not liking his benching because it not only means his play isn't helping the team, but, more importantly, it validates the beliefs of those of us who trumpet that it was a terrible contract to begin with.

I agree with all of your opinions that you've posted on Grossmann in this thread. I think you're on the money with your analysis of Grossmann as a player. Honestly, putting together a video collection regardless of intent just isn't a good way of backing those opinions up. It's just too easy to only select certain videos to make any player look good. And I'm not saying you've done that. But that can be easily done for any player.
- MJL

While I agree that some could use select video clips to try and (unfairly) fluff or trash a player, I don't think it's wise to categorically disregard video altogether just because it can lend itself to that kind of thing. You can't just say "you tube clips don't prove anything" and dismiss it. Video is pretty much the gold standard when it comes to evidence in our world. Personally, I wish more people could back up their opinions with video evidence.

I think most intelligent people can determine if they're being shown a highlight reel designed to disproportionately fluff a player or examples that show specific actions that go toward one's point.

Here's the thing, I have no doubt that your intent was genuine, in attempting to use video to reinforce what you're thinking about the player. All well and good, but it is a highlight reel when you only select good plays that a player makes. And it's also showing literally a few minutes of hockey when players have played hundreds of minutes of hockey. Just too small of a slice.

The knock on Grossmann is that he can make the routine plays, as some of the videos you provided have shown. He can also miss a wide open forward on a regroup by 5 feet leading to an unnecessary icing.
