One can dream but could you imagine Terry outbidding everyone for Babcock - Pegullaville
Terry needs to get the house in order first
both houses
rochester needs an over-haul
the bills need a football overseer
if these things don't happen, pegula could be the next Daniel Snyder |

Schwartz sounds like he might stay - beargk
My bold prediction for the Bills.
With the hiring of Ryan and his staff, the heavy lifting is completed.
Pegula convinces Polian to come back as President of Football Operations.
Russ Brandon named President of Business Operations...or is fired, to remove any backstabbing to Polian
Whele retains GM position...on a short leash.?..pending results of offseason moves.

Now they need to pry a suitable QB from somewhere. I don't know where, but if they go back to EJ who has demonstrated horrific accuracy issues, they are going to suck on O.
No matter who the QB is, they need to fix the O-line ... Be interesting to see who they hire as the position coach for the O-line...the go get two(2) starting guards who can actually play. |

Ultimately, I think Schwartz goes where Marrone ends up. |

Well actually, after the first 20 games is when Nolan made his first lineup switch. And thats what benefited the team. That win streak, IMO, was on Nolan.
He moved Ennis to wing and put Girgensons as 1C. He moved Hodgson from 2C and down the lineup. He created the Flynn-Mitchell-Gionta line at #2 which was providing quality defensive help and also secondary scoring. He was riding Enroth who was hot (and in his time here in BUF has always been proven to stay hot as long as you keep riding him. Hes never been good on spot duty, but only during long injury absences to Miller). He also stopped playing Benoit-Meszaros and insert Zadorov into the lineup who thrived playing 2nd pair with Risto. And when Benoit or Meszaros were in the lineup they were getting less than 8 min a night and the top 4 were getting 20+
Injuries, illnesses, and players going cold... oh have I mentioned enough that we've also only played 2 backup goalies in the last 12 games? - theblueandgold
When someone posts a detailed analysis like this, I check one or two facts to see if their opinion merits consideration.
I checked the comment re Meszaros and Benoit 8 minute ice time.
Not even close.
Neither were ever near that except for one game when one of them was injured.
Also, they played during the winning streak.
Who are the two backup goalies we have used in past 12 games?
I assume the rest of the 'analysis' is nonsense as well.
Also Zadarov has not thrived for a while.

Unless it's a HC job he can't leave unless he quits. Which he is one of the highest paid assistants in the league. Who would walk away from that? |

Yeah, after looking it up, huge exaggeration on the ice time I admit, although they both were among the lower TOI in games during that stretch.
Jets L Pavelec
Colorado L Pickard
Boston L Rask
Detroit L Mrazek
NYI W Poulin
Ott L Anderson
TB L Vasilevsky
FLA L Luongo
NYR L Lundqvist
NJ L Schneider
CAR L Ward
TB L Bishop
Okay, so 4 backup goalies, oops. Doesnt lessen the impact that playing backup goalies lead to wins during our run, and facing starters is the reason we are seeing more L's.
TOR W Reimer
SJ W Grosenick
WSH W Holtby
MTL W Price
MTL W Tokarski
TB W Nabokov
LA W Quick
CGY W Ramo
FLA W Montoya
OTT W Lehner
7 of 10 Wins came against backups.
Zadorov has not thrived? He went from up in the air about Juniors, KHL or NHL to playing nearly 20 minutes a night on a 2nd pairing above the NHL veterans Meszaros and Benoit.... He has not looked good in the New Year, but I dont judge a player by WHYDFML |

Zadarov is minus 15 since November 30.
Sure he got the ice time but he hardly thrived.

I dont get hurt by NHL.com paper watchers. The entire team is in the negative because we have a significant negative goal differential. Being a -10 has no bearing how well a 19 year old defenseman has stepped up to play 20 minutes a night and looked good doing it. As with any 19 year old rookie, he'll have some gaffs, but I along with the coaching staff have more faith in him than Benoit and Meszaros.
No comment on the backup goalie opinions? Didnt think so. No opinion on the creation of the GEM line? The FMG line? Enroth on spot duty vs Enroth being leaned on?
Didnt think so. |

Zadorov had a good stretch playing with Risto when Myers was eating big minutes but since Myers got hurt he (Zadorov) has been bad. |

I am not putting Zadarov down.
I think the young man is a breath of fresh air but needs to be handled with care.
I am challenging you to use facts when you comment.
I know the stats in NHL.COM are inconvenient when they don't support your assertion.
Going back to Meszaros, he had a bad start and lost the confidence of Nolan.
It has been up to him to work himself out of it.
People had no problem dumping on him when he was minus 10.
No one comments that since game four of the season (oct 17), Meszaros is a plus player and the only one on the team who is a plus since that time.

I wonder if he has been bad.
He plays with some poise and certainly gets the opposition to keep their heads up.
The NHL is well scouted. He was an unknown when he started but I am sure the other team's scouts have been providing information to their teams on how to play him.
I agree he will be very good but it is up to Nolan to manage this young man.
If things stay bad for him, his confidence will suffer.

Challenging me to use facts? The only issue you had was with my wild exaggeration of ice time, which admittedly was completely wrong.
Mezsaros is facing the lowest quality of competition on the team followed by Weber and Benoit. Zadorov is right there with Ristolainen in the middle, while Gorges, Myers and Strachan are facing the highest. What does this tell me? Myers, Gorges and Strachan are seeing time on the top pairing, Zadorov and Risto are middle pairing, and Meszaros, Benoit and Weber are bottom pairing. I dont even need corsi stats to tell me that, but the facts are there.
Zadorov is 2nd on the team behind Weber in positive corsi relative. Only other D with positive corsi relative? Strachan. Which means, while Zadorov is seeing 2nd pairing minutes against tougher QOC, hes one of the better defenseman in driving possession on our team. Meszaros facing lower QOC and 3rd pairing minutes? Negative corsi relative, which means when hes on the ice, he doesnt drive possession. Again, watching the games I dont need these numbers to prove it, its pretty obvious.
+/- isnt a stat to be used as "factual proof" in an argument as is. Need some context to go with it. Zadorov could be registering minus play despite being on ice for a goal where he had his man locked up and it wasnt his fault. Meszaros lost the confidence in his coach because hes garbage. Hes seeing bottom pairing minutes because hes not good enough to see top or 2nd pairing minutes. Hes being outplayed by a 19 year old rookie.
So, back to my original point -- yes, that winning streak benefited from inserting Zadorov into the lineup and playing less of Meszaros and Benoit. Along with just about everything else I said. |
