Fuel for that dumpster fire --
Mason at $4.1 million per year
or
Bobrovsky at $7.5 million per year

Mason, and agree on the last question.

4 games in 7 nights - now don't be breaking any league rules again?
Rask was wearing a sumo suit against the Pens last game. Wonder if he can do it again against you guys? If he can you'll need to be very good to win. - Aussiepenguin

I am happy, though, that the most hideous All Star game jerseys I've seen also comes about in the same year as some of the most blatant ballot stuffing:
Kane, Toews, Seabrook, Keith and Crawford -- five of the six first ballot All Stars.
Zemgus Girgensons is the other -- only because of contributions of Latvia.
Let Chicago and Latvia enjoy their hideous, radioactive green Reebok promotional jerseys. |

I care as much about the all star game as I do about my neighbor's wristwatch. Pointless, immaterial circle jerk, and usually a boring, uninspiring game to boot.
I usually take the AS weekend to watch my DVD collection of the Flyers ten greatest games. The only thing that's good about AS weekend, is there's usually trade chatter, because everyone is there hanging out. |

I did that over Christmas break this year.
I'll watch because I hate myself and will watch. Just like how I hate myself for watching every shootout though I hate it. I just will. |

I might pop it on for a few minutes between DVDs. The last one I remember watching for more than a few minutes was the game Hartnell played in, and that was just because of all the Flyers involved. |

I just saw Central moved Crouse to the 3rd overall prospect. I really like him but I'm not sure about that. |

Yeah, I think he's a bit of a reach before 8 or so. Got the skills, but it hasn't really translated into production.
With him I sort of worry what happens when he's not the (or one of the) biggest, strongest guy on the ice. |

I saw that, watched for another 15 minutes or so, said to myself, "Well, they're not gonna top 'Suck it, Phaneuf!'" and started watching Indiana Jones movies. |

Hey, if he ends up going that high that means we might just have a shot at Hanafin after all.
I was really high on taking a winger in this draft but the more I think about it, if you get Hanafin or Kylington, that slides the other D prospects down a peg. Morin and Ghost only need to be 2nd pair guys. The only worry you have is icing an insanely young D over the next two, three years.
Next year
Streit Grossmann
Ghost Schenn
MDZ Hanafin
The follwing year
MDZ Schenn
Ghost Hanafin
Sanheim Morin
And then finally, what we all want to see
Hanafin Sanheim
Ghost Morin
Hagg MDZ or Streit
In this scenario I'm dealing Coburn for a pick. AMac would be dealt too if possible. If not replace Schenn with AMac |

With all this talk of lottery pick and hopefully getting a top pick, how deep are the draft players this year?? Seems like everyone keeps talking about McDavid and I havent really heard any names. Say we do get a top 5 or top 3 pick, how much of an impact can our pick have? NHL ready or Phantoms material? |

I don't see the Flyers looking to trade MacDonald. More likely that one of Schenn or Grossmann is moved. Also a very good chance that Schultz is re-signed, and Coburn is still here. |

The flyers should swing a trade with the jets, go after bogo or enstrom plus one of the jets many very good goalie prospects. The cost would be something like simmonnds or b. Schenn plus maybe sanheim but it would be fair. Stolaraz is not a future number one, flyers have to address it. |

Always those chances. I do think they're going to have to part with three to four guys over the next two years if the prospects are being brought along accordingly. |

Keep in mind some of those lists project how they'd be as a pro not just because of what they are doing at the moment. |

I think that really depends on if and how fast the prospects develop. Both Morin and Ghostisbehere could very well find themselves in the AHL to start the season. I do think the Flyers are going to move at least one defenseman, maybe more.

I wonder if Grossmann's injury puts a damper on prospects of trading D.
I do not take aim at either Luke Schenn's game or Nicklas Grossmann's -- but I'd imagine that if it came to either/or between the two, the Flyers would keep Luke Schenn because of his right-hand shot.
Remembering back to the playoff series against the Devils, where they were thoroughly outplayed, one of the concerns was that the Devils would consistently dump the puck in so that the left-handed heavy Flyers' D would always have to play the puck with their backhand off the wall -- allowing more time for the Devils to get in on a forecheck.
I wonder, though, if having a puck moving goaltender like Mason would help alleviate that concern (it was Bryzgalov during that series).
Regardless -- I think this Grossmann injury really limits the options they have available for any trade on the blueline. |
