I listen to them because their is more flyers talk on there than WIP...i dont particularly like the eagles so... - PhillaBully
WIP and 97.5 are cesspools for hockey talk anyway. I turned on my car which had the Fanatic on from when I was listening to the Flyers game earlier and the host was going on about trading Giroux to rebuild the team. |

It's just an easy narrative. Players and teams get a rep and it's hard to shake it - Jsaquella
The thing is, it's not like Mason is low key playing well. He's among the league leaders in most categories. Take one look at NHL.com and you'd see he's been one of the best goalies in the league this year.
Reputations are one thing but lazy journalism is another. I guess it should be expected at this point which is kinda sad. |

Just some conversation. With each game it seems we are getting more and more in seller mode. Watching B. Schenn I am not a hater. But I do wonder if you would be better off trying to get a more natural winger if that is what you need. Watching the Wild last night, I wonder if you would be better off trading Schenn for a winger, and just as an example, Nino Niederreiter. Both are same age but I didn't know if that might help the team better moving forward. I don't know if it would but was just wondering. Any player would have to be same age or younger. i don't want a 30 year old vet. - J35Bacher
if MIN wants someone to come in and play C right away, Schenn for Nino is a possibility that makes sense. Could be a good move for both teams. |

Mason has been excellent as the Flyers goaltender. He's playing behind a patchwork defense. Can't ask for anything more then he's given. |

He's probably given even more than anyone could have thought to ask. He's a legitimate NHL starter, top 15 in the league, IMO. To think he was once as bad as he was in Columbus... |

Eagles, Eagles, Eagles, Eagles, Dallas, Eagles, Eagles, Sixers suck, Eagles, Eagles, Eagles, Eagles, Trade every Phillie, Eagles, Eagles, Eagles, Eagles, Eagles - jmatchett383
I love that Sixers plan to tank is blowing up in their collective faces. The Knicks are out-tanking them.
Sixers will get the third pick, and draft some obscure schlub that won't make a bit of difference. |

I'm with you. I listen to the XM hockey channel. I'm so happy I don't live close enough where WIP or The Fanatic are viable listening options, and the local (Atlantic City) station is an ESPN one where there's only one local show(which is so awful it's easy to ignore) - Jsaquella
I find the XM station surprisingly tolerable, but some of the programs they run, especially on the weekend... woof. #amateurhour

Speculation, sure, but I wouldn't characterize it as "wild".
You read stories all the time about how athletes hurt their backs or some other body part and start doing things to compensate for that injury and hurt themselves in another, seemingly unrelated, way. - johndewar
Trust me, when you injury your back you stress other body parts during recovery. Your body does rely on differrent muscles to compensate for pain, etc. It's perfectly reasonable in my mind that he's putting added stress on his knee, and even an increase in fluid in the joint can cause a great deal of pain, add in the cold and even a professional athlete can feel rusty joints. Rest is the best medicine so I'm glad they are holding him out for his future gameplay. Terrified for the next few games but ultimately glad. - FlyersGrace
Yeah, this is along the lines of what I was suspecting, too.
You'd think after the 2nd tweak, they would have just erred on the side of caution and given him a little breather and then see where he is after.
Instead, they (Berube?) just kept sending him out to power through it. |

Speculation is speculation. I don't think it's fair to criticize based on speculation. The Flyers sent him for an MRI twice. |

I guess the difference between the lesser (imho) NHL Network Radio programs and other sports talk is at least on NHLN they give a care about hockey, even if I don't like the program.
I always got the sense 97.5 and 94.1 that talking about hockey is just an obligation they just "want to do and get it over with", like visiting a bad in-law or something. |

We all can apply our amateur medical opinion to the situation. The Flyers employ a professional team of U of PA doctors, so I'm sure they checked him out. What happened in the last game was far different then soreness or pain, and was an obvious injury that came on suddenly as he made that save. At least that's my amateur diagnosis of what happened. |

Monday #Flyers column: Steve Mason's latest injury is Ron Hextall's fault -

As a rule of thumb (as with Mr. PLind and distrusting the Flyers medical staff), I tend to doubt any opinion Seravalli finds worthy of publishing. |
