On the Flyers and Leafs...
I am told the Leafs have big interest in Brayden Schenn and Couturier, and could offer up defensive help if the Flyers were to choose to head that way. I would not at all be shocked to see a move in that direction sooner than later...
Schenns suck, Couturier is a ginger... - PinkSock
The Flyers need defensive help from the Leafs?
I didn't realize things were that bad over there. |

Would like someone to explain to me how either is better than Kadri or Bozak at this point. |

I'm with daeth and that titty (frank)er Sammich on this one: you gotta lean Couturier. |

Not so sure the Leafs do anything big with respect to trades. Minor move perhaps..but what they need will cost too much and just likely make things worse. |

No major changes will be made to this core.
after drafting 12th this summer, they will have the same kind of year next year.

We're gonna hype the poop out of that 12th though |

It kind of is, isnt it - save for some big trade when a GM gets blindsided, theres no way the Leafs are improving on much without giving up other pieces they need.
Pieces they can (afford) to move(that have some value):
Gardiner
Lupul...to an extent
Bozak (if another center comes back of course)
Reimer (won't likely fetch a whole lot)
Nylander (if we're talking bigger moves)

Nah man were getting Schenn for sure this time. 8 years and 3 gm's worth of rumors are about to pay off |

Could shock the world if they admitted defeat with their captain and traded Dion. But said trade would hurt them for a while. No one really ready to take over his minutes/assignments... |

= better pick than 12th AND maybe another pick in the first round, AND no longer the only non contender to be cap-(frank)ed leading into next season
sounds like a win win win to me |

Yep. Horacek needs time to evaluate. Then, they'll fire Nonis. New GM needs time to evaluate. When Horacek is gone, new coach will also need time to evaluate. After Leiweke goes, new MLSE prez will need time to evaluate. Shanny will evaluate all the evaluations. By then, Pha9, Kessel, and Chokeson's contracts will be up and we can sign a new group of stiffs to immovable, millstone albatross contracts. Cue the next round of evaluations. |

Toronto included a recall provision in Nylander's contract which had to be triggered by Jan 16th.

Leafs have no intention of recalling Nylander. Plan is to continue his development with Marlies. - Symba007

I'd take couts over bozak. It opens up some cash and we get a bit of extra size and skill. |
