Leave him where he's playing top line minutes and not burning a year of his ELC... If I had a vote.

Nylander needs to grow more befriend he ever sees the NHL. He hasn't done that yet.
Not like he was gonna get worse playing in Sweden

- Big_Lightnin

Does AHL mean nothing to anyone?

He will grow more there than in Sweden.

MODO sucks. He's under the # of games that would burn up a year and won't be getting a call up to the leafs at any point, as per Dubas.

There is literally no downside to this move, and hasn't been since I first said this at 8am this morning

Really? He couldn't finish season then come to Marlies after?

Like Jrs do?

- Big_Lightnin

weird deadline built into his contract for Jan 16th.

like i said.. 465P career wise

the problem with toronto fans is they all seem to think that 1st rounder = 1st line

not even close.. nowhere nears actually.. doesnt even mean top 6

I'm with you man - I think we all are, we're just not used to having nothing to complain about. Really the only risk is that he gets his head taken off by some 24 year old who's realized he's not making the NHL as a player and is trying the goon route.

i think he will be fringe 2nd line.. mostly used as a checker with a bit of scoring that can jump up into the top 6 when needed

Well sure there is, he burns a year of his ELC when he is no where near ready to play in the NHL.

Let him burn that year next year in AHL, when he's a year stronger and more mature.

Read my post again. As far as I know, he is under the amount of games so it doesn't burn a year. Wasn't this covered back on like page 3 or something?

Based on the speed of the hands (read: lackthereof) I saw at the tourney this year, that's wishful thinking.

He will stay with the Marlies for 30 games, then play his 9 with the big team. Since the season will either be over, or they sneak into the playoffs, he would be eligible to play and not lose his first year of eligibility on his entry level deal. He needs to learn the North American game and the Marlies fit the bill.

They are a different breed. The French ladies are quite beautiful, well some are, but they have a different mental makeup that can frustrate the hell out of you, some days. It's quite a challenge, at times.
- PrinceLH

Trust me - that's not unique to the 'french'.

Ah, apparently because it's game 43, Nylander can be on the roster for the remainder of the season and not count as one of his ELC seasons.

Smart.

No, not you

It was funny, in the same way that watching someone bicycle into a phone pole is funny. The child in you is mildy amused, but you're cringing nonetheless

25 games pro and he burns an ELC year, in either league
EDIT: my bad... 40 games

Wtf is 25 games? Rookie status?
