Mark Hunter was hired as director of player personnel but is not listed on the Leafs site, I think you see him moved to director of pro and amateur scouting before or right after the upcoming draft.

We'll see. The east is a poop show with respect to the wildcard positions, so who knows? At this point I guess that NYI, TBL, PIT, MON are in, WSH-TOR are up in the air.

it's about balance, right? the Leafs committing to defence was always going to affect their offence, which is what you're seeing. seems like they've played some really tight defence last 3 games but with that, scoring has dried up outside of that first period explosion against Columbus. the Leafs goal totals were never about being that good offensively. it was attributable to their style of play. but assuming they keep up this defence first mentality, with their goaltending they should score enough to get their share of wins, especially if their PP continues to click. defence-first is a winning mentality... it's a good start for the Leafs.

It blows my mind people think the offense will stay the same, while the team is committed to a much more solid defensive structure. The offense we had was because JVR and Kessel where on the blue line cheating and waiting for a 2 on 1

Yes. He's scouting CHL
- Big_Lightnin

Yea and no, he is working with chief amateur scout Dave Morrison, pro scouting director Steve Kasper and director of player development Jim Hughes as a collaboration for the up coming draft.

It makes sense, considering Mark Hunter was hired and there was no definition on what his duties where to be. It's almost like he's watching our core players and will be the one that might make the decisions on them ultimately. Probably keeping a low profile and not entering into any relationships with the current players, because he knows that he'll be moving them, in the off season. The Hunters are probably the most successful owners of any CHL franchise in Canada. Their teams are always near the top and they've been able to develop top end talent for the NHL.

I dont know about you guys, but I certainly didnt mind that loss. Kypreos can go fly a kite about his comments...I'd rather see that type of hockey. They keep this up and things will start to bounce in their favour.

David Nonis, Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs, announced Tuesday that Mark Hunter, a veteran forward of 12 seasons in the National Hockey League, has been named the club’s Director of Player Personnel. The Petrolia, Ontario native played in 628 career NHL regular season games and 79 more in the postseason from 1981 to 1993.

“I am very excited about joining the Toronto Maple Leafs organization,” said Hunter. “I am grateful for the opportunity that has been given to me by Brendan Shanahan, David Nonis and the entire management team. I would like to thank the London Knights organization for 12 great years. I am looking forward to the start of a new chapter in Toronto.”

Hunter, 51, has spent the last 12 seasons as Owner, Vice President and General Manager of the Ontario Hockey League’s London Knights. He also spent a brief time as the club’s head coach during the 2011-12 season, leading the Knights to an OHL Championship and Memorial Cup Final. Hunter led the Knights to a CHL record 31 consecutive wins to start the 2004-05 season. The team would set a total of 13 CHL records that season, which culminated in a record of 79-9-2-0 and a 4-0 win in the Memorial Cup Final over Sidney Crosby and the Rimouski Oceanic.

Hunter has also led the Knights to tremendous growth on the business side of their operation. Under his direction, the team’s season ticket holder base grew from just over 1,200 when the team was first purchased in 2000 to 7,200 at the start of this season. London has led the OHL in attendance for six consecutive seasons.

In his role as Director of Player Personnel, Hunter will oversee the Maple Leafs’ pro scouting, amateur scouting and player evaluation departments.
