Regardless, that's pretty reckless. Give him a game off - SotaPopinski
First offense? And somewhat ambiguous, never happen. He'll get a fine and a slap on the wrist. |

I still like Koivu as a 3rd line center and I think Granny needs to go back to wing. Sure wish fletcher would have been more proactive this season. This team is effed. - MnGump
I would be more interested in dangling Granlund for a center than switching him to wing, but I'm game for anything to get him off that 1C role. Fletch has a lot of work to do, if he is even given the opportunity |

Your probably right, I'm not so sure we haven't seen Granny's best already. |

I think last year was his best, but I am at an all-time low in terms of negativity

I guess I must be too biased, I didn't think it looked intentional. But maybe he was trying to elbow his head. |

The more I watch it, the more it looks like this is the case. Who knows, though. Not something Suter is known for, but he is one frustrated dude nowadays |

I didn't really take a close look at it. But I hope he gets suspended so he can get some games off. The guy is just dragging around out there for 29:30 a game. They need to sit him down so he can fully recover from the mumps. |

That's the irony. He's one of the guys that really needs that break to take some time off and he gets picked to go. It should be Scandella or Zucker if they have to take at least one guy. Suter should just refuse to go. |

The thing is, how can Fletch fire Yeo when Yeo had absolutely nothing to do with this teams goalie personnel. And goal tending is this teams prime concern right now over all other issues.
I don't think even Babcock could turn this season around with these goalies. |

Four more games until the All-Star break. If they do fire him, I could see it happening right before the break. But who would they bring in? And is it even worth it? Of all the years to completely go off the rails, this is the season to do it. They may just be better riding this to the end and see if they can get lucky in the draft lottery. |

Keith Jones for NBC sports stating Suter threw a "sneaky, dirty elbow". Sorry, but IMO that's a little too quick of a conclusion to come to about a player who is certainly not known for even being all that physical, let alone dirty.
Whatever, it's a shot to the head no doubt, but I still don't believe he meant to connect with the head. |

I just saw it again. I have to agree with Jones, that was dirty and it looks to me like he knew exactly what he was doing. Here is Suter's explanation via Russo's twitter:
Suter said he was reaching for puck and went to put hand back on stick when elbow came out.
My god, that is horsesh!t. |

Putting hand on stick causes an elbow to jump out like that? - SotaPopinski
Looks like Minny is looking for the Central Division's goon crown. I know they're frustrated but with Bickel, Cooke, and now Suter's antics not sure you can claim they "normally play clean." |

I said it before the season and I've said it a hundred times since, but Kuemper should not have gotten as many starts as he did through the first half of the season. That's on Yeo. Very rarely can a young goaltender step into a starting role and succeed - our "target" Cam Ward is a perfect example. He had two good seasons to start his career, was thrust in the limelight, and when the team didn't perform in front of him he collapsed and hasn't recovered since. Fleury is another example (though this season he's performed well). The amount of head-games an NHL goalie has going on requires much more time to develop than any other position. Kuemper and dozens of other goalies in the league continue to show how significantly difficult it is for a young goalie to make the leap to an NHL starter. Pushing him has hurt him significantly and, historically, could ruin his career. Rather than being capable of a full-time starter, he will likely be a very solid backup. I could be wrong, though, but history has a strange tendency to repeat itself. |

Suter's play ended up being a dirty hit. I don't think any of us would deny that. But at the same time, watch the play and tell me he made an intentional head-shot. He has Downie in his peripherals and that's it - he sticks his elbow out to make the same play most defenseman in the league would by sticking an elbow out to slow down the opponent. Unfortunately, his elbow ended up in Downie's face.
Again, I'm not saying the play wasn't dirty, but you'd have to be out of your mind to think Suter intentionally elbowed him in the face. 99/100 Downie turns with his head higher and takes the elbow to the chest and no call is made. |
