Not really dynamic. It's a simple 1-1-2 formation. - MJL
Whatever it is. Seems like a big change that's contributed to the poor pk. Our pk forwards aren't quick enough for it IMO |

I don't remember last year the forwards playing this dynamic coverage scheme where one will follow the puck at the top of the umbrella at times. - Just5
Flyers had their share of intercepts up high and shorthanded breakaways last year... converted eight shorties as compared to just one so far this year (with few SH chances).

So I missed two goals by missing the first few minutes of the 2nd period. I was like... REALLY!?! Who are you people and what happened to my Flyers...
Good game, sorry to hear Coburn will be out an extended period. |

I wonder if Zepp's play opens the door for a trade of Emery after Mason gets healthy.
I'd certainly explore it, not just because I think the Flyers are not going to be a playoff team, but because they need to add picks, even if they are later round ones.
Emery started the season fine, but in his 5th start, he got lit up by the Bolts and since then he's had only two starts where he allowed less than 3 goals and only 3 starts where his save % was over .900.
I like Emery, but I think it's time to move on, if not now, then at the end of the year. I'd see if a team had interest in him as a back up or even as a third option in case of injury. - Jsaquella
I'd be fine with trading Emery and making Zepp the main backup for the rest of the season unless this team goes on some crazy winning streak. Emery's a good backup who could come in for a game here and there and give you a fair chance to win. I'm not drinking the Kool Aid with Zepp based on 2 career NHL starts, but I'd be fine with him being the backup to finish out the season. |

Looking forward to seeing what this D unit minus grossman and coburn can do. - Just5
Flyers going 17-0-0 until Coburn comes back, even with pylon Grossmann in for half that time.
Edit: Book it. |

Be careful what you wish for.
You're about to get heavy doses of two players who NOBODY wanted before the Flyers picked them up. |

With Emery in goal Wednesday to kick (... or punch) off the winning streak. |

It's ok. I had a friend who kept calling the NY Giants the "G-Men!"
We had an intervention. Everything is ok. He's in Florida getting help |

They over pursue the puck on the PK and get out of position far too often. It's been obvious since the game in Dallas that something was very wrong. Have the coaches made any changes to improve it? No. That's why they're dead last in the league at killing penalties. |

Saw this on Yahoo, of all places, and found myself clenching my fists. Ahh...the life of a Flyers fan:

Well, in fairness, at least they were able to flip Eminger and Downie for Carle. But yes, that was BY FAR the worst trade Holmgren made during his Flyers' tenure. |

Concur.
The only people who prepend the word "the" in front of "Ohio State University" are midwesterners who are trying to make themselves feel better about living in Ohio.
Ohio makes Meth loving Western PA seem cosmopolitan. - johndewar
Lol. My sister went to OSU. I would probably root (cheer) for them if she took any interest in the games.
That being said, OSU is a fun school and Columbus isn't a bad city. Gamedays are (frank)ing insane though. You won't find a sober person on campus for the 24 hours starting at about 10am on Saturday morning to 10am Sunday morning.
They also have this weird thing where homeless people will cleanup the campus Saturday night and early sunday morning. People just throw their bottles and cans on the ground and it's like a feeding frenzy for the homeless to turn them in for $0.15 each. |

He is better than Bryz..it's close - 3flyerkids
I'm not so sure. In 32 games last year, Bryz had a .923 ES sv% (which, ironically, was the same as Mason's) and Nabokov had a .915 in 40 games. This year, Bryz has a .871 ES sv% but in only 3 games and Nabokov has a .901 ES sv% in 11 games.
Very low sample size for both goalies but Bryz has significantly better last year in terms of this statistic. Both are not great though. |

When it's gone on this long. It's mostly on the coaches. These are veteran pk'ers with a lot of experience. It may be a sound technique but the group just has trouble executing it. We are halfway through a season now. If their still waiting for a light to go on then that's a mistake |

In my opinion it's not a coaching or system issue, nor an issue of forwards not being quick enough. In my opinion it's an execution issue. |

Any goalie who ducks when the puck is shot ( Bryzgalov in game against Habs) has no right to be in NHL. I will never forget that.
