he is. and i wont deny that its really hurting the team. but if anything, i think it shows you how important of a piece he actually is. - stayinthefnnet
if coburn and read had been playing to their norm the flyers would be still in the race for a wildcard spot (maybe)
those two players having awful years and the team is closer to a top five pick |

Also, it was posted on the last blog, but Cedric Paquette thought it was a good idea to get tough with Zdeno Chara. After that, he decided to get tough with Chara at the end of the game, as well. Poor poophead.
- jmatchett383
So many questions going through my head. First, has Cedric Paquette ever played against Zdeno Chara before? Was he blind to notice how big the guy is? Did he even know who he was at the time? Even the casual Hockey watcher knows not to poke the bear. The guy should the next week humiliate. |

http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/frequentflyers/Matt-Read-reveals-long-term-injury-that-could-have-hampered-his-game.html - wilsonecho91
This is gonna make me sound like a jerk but what was wrong with him prior to November 1st? He's been working hard, the Umberger goal that he set up Monday proves he can skate, so what's the real issue here? I think I'd understand a little bit more if it were a groin. Before gaining this knowledge, his skating seemed fine.
On the other hand, it does explain the shank of a pretty routine one timer against the Bruins. |

Read said himself that He wasn't getting to the scoring areas and didn't blame the injury. The player has to be better. He wouldn't play at all if he knew he wouldn't be effective - Just5
I think I'm somewhere in the middle. I don't totally disagree with you. |

You just know Edwards made a B-line to the officials' dressing room to address this atrocity. He was fuming.
Apparently, he was the only one in attendance who saw it. - tangent_man
apparently he is also the only one that thinks you can review a puck hitting the netting. he is an idiot. I want to shove a sock in his mouth. and honestly the game isn't necessarily out of reach at 5-2 with 20 mins to go. |

Most folks who watch the team closely know...he has been a consistent 20 goal a season guy. He's been an elite level PK guy for three years.
That's the big issue with the team, it's not under performing, per se, but the guys who are underperforming are vital to its success. |

MIN acquires goalie Devan Dubnyk from PHX for a draft pick.
Too bad he couldn't have been traded prior to him shutting the door on us! |

This still gives me Chills. I was at a bar in Windsor, Ontario the night of this game. The bartender asks me how I could just sit here and watch this game just prior to the fight. I told me him "They'll make it interesting".
We'll see who shows up tonight.

Dubnyk is a decent goalie. Outside of last season, he's had really solid numbers |

And why wasn't he getting to the scoring areas? He's a professional with pride, and he's not going to blame the injury. Good for him. And he obviously did play through the injury. He hasn't been himself all year. How many times has it seemed like he didn't have his speed? Playing through a high ankle sprain can do that. he deserves the benefit of the doubt.

A much more sensible move than firing Yeo. |

You'd think he'd have enough downtime sitting on the bench to think it through. |

He's 3rd-string now, and the only reason he still wants to play is to hit 700 W's.
Also, probably not a coincidence that this bit of news coincided w/ the MIN opening getting filled by Dubnyk. |

Nope. He's not good enough to play over Elliott or Allen |

I'm reading actual NHL writers ripping Dubnyk. Not sure I get it. He had a bit of a rough rookie year, then had save % of .916, .914, .920 in EDMONTON!!!! before having a horrible year last season. He's bounced back nicely with the Coyotes.
It's a solid value trade for the Wild and they get a desperately needed piece. |
