And I am arguing that more minutes to MDZ and Coliacovo will increase the amount of 5 on 5 goals allowed because they are not as good defensively as Grossmann and Coburn. - jmatchett383
You could very well be right. The Flyers are losing a lot of size and physical play there.

Tonight will be a good test because Schultz-Coburn shut down Ovechkin's line at ES in the last game. Now, apparently, it will be MDZ in place of Coburn and Schultz playing on his off side. So that's a little scary. Not that Schultz-MacDonald would make me any more confident. |

Also, it was posted on the last blog, but Cedric Paquette thought it was a good idea to get tough with Zdeno Chara. After that, he decided to get tough with Chara at the end of the game, as well. Poor poophead.

Well, as much as I hate Edwards, I kind of agree with his assessment. |

I wouldn't mind seeing a Schultz-MacDonald pairing. I think they'd compliment each other well. MacDonald has been playing solid hockey in the last month or so, and he's going to have to continue to do so, with the absence of Coburn.

I think MacDonald's been pretty solid ever since he got taken off the first pairing. Which is why I'm in no hurry to move him back there. |

I don't disagree with you in the sense that MacDonald is not a player that belongs on the first pair. The problem is that the Flyers don't have a single defenseman who does belong there.

Not sure what the pairing will be tonight yet since neither Streit nor Schultz practiced yesterday. I projected Colaiacovo with L. Schenn mainly because they worked together previously this season and spent much of time on ice yesterday alongside each other.

I thought his reaction was unprofessional and way over-the-top. |

Kind of par for the course with Edwards. Bruins can do no wrong, it's always the other team that's playing dirty hockey. Keep in mind, this is the same announcer who laughed when Randy Jones got boarded and there was no call. Chara could have easily gotten himself another double-minor before the second altercation. |

So no one can blame me if I watch this game peeking through my fingers, desperately trying to both watch and not watch at the same time.
Do I sound concerned? |

Well, the way he delivers it certainly was. Edwards has never had a professional day in his life. But Paquette did throw the first face punch.

Yes, after Chara threw the first cross check and then threw him down on the ice a plethora of times (blatant interference at 3:11). |

Really I must have missed that. Chara boards the guy, then Paquett comes over and bumps him, cross check to chest, Paquette throws a punch to Charas face, Chara knocks him out.
We must be watching a different video.

Chara's response was WAY disproportionate to what Paquette did. |

Sorry, I was talking about the one at the end of the game, not the first incident. My bad. |

I didn't see a punch from Paquette. It was more of a shove that got up a little high. I think Paquette had his hands on his stick when he did it.
Chara kinda cocked back and threw an actual punch. |

The second incident was Paquette obviously still suffering brain damage from the first altercation. And yes Edwards is also displaying his abundance of brain damage as well.
We complain about Jackson, but those guys are just on a whole other level of homerism.

Pittsburgh's crew is pretty bad too.
The canadian crews are probably the best. They will actually criticize their own teams.
I always felt the Flyers have done a disservice to their own fans by never really criticizing their own players. There are so many fans who just thinks X player sucks or Y player is great because he scores some goals.
It was kind of nice to see Keith Jones discuss Matt Read's inability to neutralize Stamkos' stick on the his PP goal. |

I can't stand Pittsburgh's crew at all. I don't hear much of Jack Edwards, but I know he's awful. |
