What's up with Giroux? He missed a shift at the end there with Voracek and Schenn. - MJL

They challenged him when the play was over. If two or three guys were to attack Niskanen and we get scored on, then what? You as well aa many call the same group a bunch of meatheads. - SuperSchennBros
I want them to respond by nailing a Cap or 2 with a hard clean hit. They don't have to be the broad street bullies but they can't be the pattison avenue pussies either.

Mark Howe, Garry Galley, Eric Desjardins, Steve Duchesne, Joni Pitkanen, and Chris Pronger , all may agree. - MJL
But they'd all have a hard time convincing Joe and Jimmy Watson, Andre Dupont, Bob Daley, Brad McCrimmon, Kjell Samuelsson, Derian Hatcher, Andrej Meszaros, all of whom were not the team's leading D scorer the year they won the Ashbee award.
Several, weren't even the 2nd or 3rd leading D scorers. |

Dumping it in the corner is an option. A cross ice pass can be risky. It's on the forwards to get to the net when the puck goes back to the point. - MJL
If I remember correctly, here's what happened on that play:
There was a scrum right at the blueline on one side of the ice
Puck squirts out to a forward who whipped it to Schenn
Schenn panics and throws a shot towards Holtby
I get what you and SSB said about it's on the forwards to get to the net. Sure. But even Pavel Bure couldn't get to the net in a half second that it took for the puck to squirt out then make its way across the ice to Schenn.
Look to see if a D to D play is there. If not, wrap it around. The forwards aren't gonna be there- they're still in the aftermath of that scrum- maybe even still wrapped up with the opponent. Look to keep the play alive and get set up. Flipping a shot there with no one in the TV screen is lazy and spoonfeeding an easy change and break for the Caps, something which contradicts what your gameplan should be to get momentum back- grinding and working hard and wearing down the opponent. |

simmonds looked mad but i'd rather lose someobe else for 5 minutes - -davies-
Don't have to fight him; lay him out with a legal hit like he did to Laughton. It doesn't even have to be this game. I don't want them chasing him around.

Giroux blew a tire on his last shift and seemed to be a bit awkward after...maybe he tweaked something or needed to get his blades sharpened |

Flyers are playing a solid game. They are down 2 defenseman, and Colaiacovo is clearly rusty. It's a 1-0 game and the Flyers are competing and skating well.

It looked like a clean hit to me, what are you going to do. Like you said, it's 1-0 game. Retribution can come at a better time. - MJL
It's tough to swollow. Simmonds is standing right there but he played the situation smart. |

AdjustedSvPct: Adjusted save percentage; this adjusts for the fact that some teams give up more high-quality shots, while others give up more low-quality shots. This is the weighted-average of SvPctHigh, SvPctMed, and SvPctLow, where the weights correspond to the league-wide percentage of shots from each of those areas. In other words, this is a goalies save percentage if they faced a league average proportion of shots from each of the three shooting zones (high, medium, and low probability of success).
It's an attempt to quantify scoring chances & the defense's impact on goalie performance. - Jsaquella

It's not a lazy play at all. Shooting the puck is never a bad play. I'm not going criticize Schenn for getting the puck to the net. Forwards have to get there. Getting the puck to the net doesn't contradict the Flyers game plan. A dump can lead to a breakout also. I don't have a problem with what Schenn did there.

No one had a better look at the hit then Simmonds, he chose to be smart. He chose to not take himself out of a one goal game against a hot team. |

Like I said earlier, it's about being the teams best defenseman. Scoring obviously comes into play there, and is a factor.
