I'm sorry buddy, but its over. Call off the parade and lets prepare for next season. Not to be a downer but the sooner we accept it the better we can prepare for meaningful games in 2015-2016. - coffee junkie
Why does a fan have to accept it? It's a personal choice of how one wants to view the remaining games. If a fan wants to hold on and hope, and view the games as meaningful, that is their choice. Although the odds are stacked against them for sure, they have not been mathematically eliminated from the playoffs. |

Anyone can hope and cheer for their team all the want. Isn't that why we all watch the Flyers and think to some extent that we are all experts.
But if we are being somewhat realistic... They are not making playoffs and with the draft class... Better for it |

I don't think that they're going to make the playoffs either, but reality is that what I think is really irrelevant. I still view the games as meaningful, still enjoy the games. I hope that they go on a epic run and make a run at it.

Flyers are not going to make playoffs. I think that is written in stone 11 points out of Wild Card not to mention Toronto and Florida are also ahead of them.
They played a tight defensive game and it is too bad they could not reward Zepp with a win. - 3flyerkids
Too many points, in most cases the teams they are chasing have the same number of games played-or worse have games in hand on the Flyers and worse, the sheer number of teams that the Flyers would have to jump make it very unlikely.
They're 10 point out and have to jump at least 4 teams. Two of those 4 teams have played the same number of games the Flyers have. The other two have 3(Florida) and 2(Ottawa) games in hand. Worse, Columbus is only a point or two behind the Flyers, with 3 games in hand.
The Flyers not only need to get hot, they need numerous other teams to get ice cold and fold. |

I think Sam Carchidi really believes that Scott Laughton's listed weight of 177 lbs is accurate. He stated in his column that Niskanen outweighs Laughton by 32 lbs. |

I wanted Gibbons this summer. He's an ideal 4th liner. Speed, bit of skill, decent PK guy. He would have been cheap, too. - Jsaquella
The trouble is, I'm not sure how much they can move at the TDL-or if they will consider moving some of the more expensive pieces.
They seem to want to re-sign Schultz, rather than get an asset for him and try to re-sign him this summer. Given how they use Streit & Coburn, they might not be interested in trading away guys who are signed to contracts that are manageable next season.
Other guys, such as Nick Grossmann or Ray Emery, have limited value or might not be tradeable at all. Over the past week we've seen two indicators of their value. Bryan Allen got waived by Montreal. Same cap hit as Grossmann, same kind of player, one less season and went unclaimed. Can't see teams refusing Allen for free and then trading an asset for Grossmann.
Then last night the Wild got Devan Dubnyk for a third rounder. Dubnyk is a 28 year old who has had a solid career, except for last season's nightmare. Emery is in his early 30's, has been slowed by his injuries and is well below league average in terms of save % & GAA. Can't see him being worth more than a 5th rounder. |

Hope I didn't come off as more of an ass then usual with that comment. Just that some folks haven't accepted the inevitable yet and I hope the GM has. The sooner the better IMHO. |

Did I say they were making the playoffs?
A tight game like that should be won, especially considering two of your players are in the top ten in points. To be shutout is a pathetic. If they're ever going to go ANYWHERE in this league, whether it's this year, next year, or five years--they have to win tight games.
All I'm sayin'. |

Even the most ardent of fans knows the chances of making the playoffs are smaller than a gnat's Richard.
I'm still watching the games and enjoying them. I like watching the kids develop, I love watching Giroux and Voracek dominate and I still mostly enjoy the games. I'm happy when they win, but not upset if they lose.
I just hope that they can parley some of the pieces for draft picks. They really have a dearth of picks and this is as good a draft as there has been recently. They did a fantastic job last year with the draft and I want more picks. |

I agree, and it's still part of the process. Have to learn how to win those tight games. |

I was pretty shocked Dubnyk only brought back a 3 rounder. He's played on an awful team and has posted solid numbers. |

Oh I understand. I don't think it will be easy but i think waiting right until the deadline might be able to get them some assets from playoff teams.
One thing I wished is they took some chances on waiver pick ups. I see Caunnaton in Columbus doing well for their blueline. At worst if they don't work out you waive them again |

I wasn't. For as important that gaolies are they rarely bring back value in trades. If someone wanted Emery i have a feeling it will be for a 5th or 6th rounder. |

Well Emery is toast. He has the lateral movement of a 3 toed sloth. Dubnyk can play. |

Yeah, I have to agree. The guy competes hard and has had some tough injuries but he could very swap positions with Zepp and find himself playing in Germany next year. |

I wouldn't say toast. He plays well when he is positionaly good. yes his lateral movement isn't there. He could be a good back up going into the playoffs for a playoff team looking for a vet. Maybe Dallas. I don't know. I also think he could be good for a team with a youbnger goalie. He has seemed to gell well with mason. |

Yes. If they can get an asset for Emery when Mason comes back it will be fine. Zepp can handle the backup duties for the remainder of this year at least. He looks pretty good. Granted it's only 3 games. |

Agreed. Zepp has played pretty well. Small sample size. If Mason is healthy next year he can play 65 games. I wouldn't have a problem with Zepp playing 15-20 games. He appears to be competent. |

I'm on board with this. This team is going to sink or swim due to how Mason plays. If Mason's out/not playing well, it won't matter who the backup is. I think Emery is a better goalie than Zepp, but I wouldn't have a problem with them using Zepp as the backup for the remainder of this year into the next year or two. It would also give Stolarz the lion's share of work in the AHL. If they could get something in the realm of a 5th round pick or better for Emery, I'd do it. |
