I get that everyone wants to appear impartial for some reason, but the hit on Laughton was clearly not a "clean" hit. Niskanen jumped into Laughton, while aiming high, and left the ice while making the hit.
If Rinaldo did this, everyone would be talking about how long his suspension should be. - hobo
I've only seen it once, but it looked clean to me. I'm glad the Flyers didn't overreact and get a 17-minute penalty the way that McQuaid did after the Schultz hit on Paille.
Edit: Just watched the replay. His feet were on the ice when contact was made, and the PPOC was the chest. It was just a hard, clean hit. |

I freeze framed it, and his feet were on the ice when contact was made. And it was shoulder to chest contact. Take the orange glasses off. |

This team is just bad in every way. Hextall's lack of, well doing anything really, is going to start making me miss Holmgren. His only trade was bad, and his inactivity isn't helping anyone. - twpguy
In my opinon, Hextall being inactive is a good thing, not a bad thing. The worst thing he could do is overreact to the team's current status. Make the right moves, not just moves. |

While I understand your frustration, Hextall inherited a cap nightmare and some equally nightmarish contracts for marginal players. Not a whole lot he can do. Besides, who that would help the team is available right now anyway? It's going to be a long sucky process to dig out of the hole they are in. |

I thought it was clean. Berube, in his post game remarks, thought it was clean.
I think if the players thought it was less than clean, they would have run Niskanen.
The only thing that bugged me was folks comparing it to a Scott Stevens hit. Scott Stevens hits were typically head high and with his elbows up, so, this was not a Scott Stevens hit. |

It happened with 2:53 left in the 2nd.
Crying about a clean hit should be beneath Flyers fans. |

Hextall's hands are kind of tied at the moment. He's inherited so many bad contracts he's kind of limited in what he can do. Do you want him to make transactions just for the sake of making them? I'm encouraged by his patience. The fact he isn't throwing assets away for band-aids is a good sign. |

If there were no salary cap, this would all be easy, right? |

when guys like niskinnen decide to lay a hit like that against you it makes me laugh; it was a clean hit by the way.
he rarely hits and he knows the fact the flyers are soft to play against he doesnt have to worry about anyone coming after him. you think he makes a hit like that against the ducks or bruins?
this team has many issues. this may be the softest team I have ever seen in recent memory. They are far to easy to play against. |

I think that's the thing - because nobody made a big deal about it, it didn't get overanalyzed. But he clearly leaves the ice, and clearly impacts the head with his shoulder.
I'm not saying it was all that dirty, or suspension-worthy, but it should have been called a penalty. |

I'm kinda glad they didn't try to get any revenge in this game. It's a long season and they'll see Niskanen again. |

call up white, stortini, and rosehill. make that your 4th line. at least they will play hard and show some compete level.
time to dump what you can and if that means waivers so be it. |

Thanks. I can see how in real time it might have appeared unclean, but from that clip it looks clean to me. |

I freezed it and it looked like his feet were on the ice and the main point of contact wasn't Laughton's head. I don't think Niskanen has been suspended before either. |

yeah when I saw it in real-time it looked borderline dirty but when I paused the video, it was fairly clear that he didn't quite leave the ice or meet Laughton's head with his shoulder. |

I disagree, the last thing Hexy should do is make knee jerk moves. |
