Physics should be suspended 4 games. Which would make for a very interesting 4 games. - NickTheKid87
Yeah, the point was that it wasn't a clean hit. He jumped into Laughton to make the hit, which is a charging penalty. His initial contact was more in the neck/shoulder area. Had he made the head the primary point of contact, rather than secondary, it would be a much different discussion.
But I realize that snarkiness is paramount! |

Aside from OEL, he'd be the hardest (current roster) player to pry out of there. They have strength on the back end but are lacking skill up front, and he's their best bet to provide it. - jmatchett383
Yeah.
Your probably right. He just seems like a guy that could almost just seemlessly fit on one of the top 2 lines. |

This team is just bad in every way. Hextall's lack of, well doing anything really, is going to start making me miss Holmgren. His only trade was bad, and his inactivity isn't helping anyone. - twpguy
The team really isn't horrible this year in any area (except PK). The over-arching problem is that, beyond 2/3 of the top line, Mason and Streit's point production (top 4 among Dmen, top 3 on power play), they also aren't good enough at anything to be a playoff-caliber team.

He definitely could. But the price to acquire him is likely very prohibitive. However, a B. Schenn-centric trade could be possible. |

Sarcasm is paramount on this forum, get it right!
But it looks like he left his feet from the contact or just slightly before and he didn't travel a long way at all to hit Laughton. I could see some refs calling that but if anything it would be a borderline charging penalty. Your exact words were "But he clearly leaves the ice, and clearly impacts the head with his shoulder," which I don't think is that clear at all. |

what would you suggest they do the rest of the year? what would your approach or gameplan be?
do you move guys like raffle and PEB for draft picks? do you move some of the Dman, as they can help other teams imo just asked to play at higher level here than they would a contending team |

He didn't jump, his feet came off the ice when contact was made as part of making the hit. That's allowed. |

I am thinking more and more B. Schenn might just be the piece to move to get a winger. I know he is young and i don't not like him but just feel it would be better getting a natural winger. Maybe some package with Schenn and Coburn. Maybe WPG would prefer Schenn to Kane because of all the extra baggage kane seems to have. Personally I think he would thrive on a wing with Giroux or even Couturier.
Just something doesn't mesh when i watch. I know Umberger and Vinny don't help the situation but watching there is stuff that is just off when they play. |

I think Phoenix may be an area for him. He's always been a center for the majority of his career, and he's still fairly young. If you find a team that is in need of a young top-6 center, they'd give you the best return. I think that Arizona could be a destination, just not sure they'd move Boedker. Better chance of getting one of their young defensemen. |

Maybe Edmonton too. They seem to want a top 6 center so Draistl doesn't have as much pressure to produce right away. i know they sent him back but next year. If anything I would prefer to get a winger back. Someone to slide on top 2 lines. After the TDL i hope to see Laughton taking more defensive role and letting Couturier maybe get more offensive with guys like Schenn(if still here) and Simmonds. |

The problem I have with Edmonton is that, the only players I'd want (RNH, Hall, Eberle, Nurse, 1st round pick) would take a massive overpayment to get. And no, I DO NOT want Yakupov. When exactly is he going to explode into this 40-goal sniper, again? |

Only way I'd take Yakupov is a low-risk move. I'm not paying a premium for a guy that has been an absolute mess thus far. |

Im good with him and most of the young players. He's a solid middle 6 player. Just keep him unless someone wants to overpay. When the time comes to negotiate a new deal take a hardline stance |

So I just realized that Connor McDavid has only put up 3 goals and 2 assists in his last 3 games, dropping off more than 1 point/game from his early production. I'm calling bust on this one. |

I would take Kane over Schenn but I think they would have to overpay for Kane given his age and that he has a 30 goal season under his belt. Other than that one year, he hasn't been all that great for Winnipeg. He outproduces Schenn though. |

Not sure why Chief continually leaves Schenn on the top line with G and Jake. He doesn't create space for them, can't win board battles and doesn't have great speed or make slick passes. Raffl was a better fit on that line... |

Actually, I really liked Brayden Schenn's game last night and I don't really like Brayden Schenn all that much.

Kane is the same age as Brayden Schenn, no? They were in the same draft year, I think. |

YW FG. He's going to be unleashed tonight. He hasn't played in over 3 weeks. He's going to come out flying. He will probably only leave the Flyers shorthanded twice tonight. No worries, that top shelf PK is on the case! |

Well, I wouldn't call him too busty. He's only an A-Cup at best. But, he has time to develop, so who knows. |

Berube uses the top line with Giroux and Voracek to try and get a player going offensively. It's a common coaching strategy, although it hasn't worked for Schenn or Read. I do agree that overall, Raffl seems to have the best chemistry there, and also where Raffl seems to play his best hockey. |
