We trade Emery for a washing machine yet?
- hereticpride

I think Holtby's little jazz hands pre-game dance was because he didn't have to face Emery...

YW FG. He's going to be unleashed tonight. He hasn't played in over 3 weeks. He's going to come out flying. He will probably only leave the Flyers shorthanded twice tonight. No worries, that top shelf PK is on the case!

...Raffl seems to have the best chemistry there, and also where Raffl seems to play his best hockey.
- MJL

Raffl's got this weird thing going where he quietly makes guys better, no matter where he plays. Watched him for 1.5 seasons now, and I still can't exactly pin down why that is.

Maybe just chalk it up to "little things".

Kane is the same age as Brayden Schenn, no? They were in the same draft year, I think.
- johndewar

Yup Kane selected the pick ahead of Schenn, 4th and 5th respectively. But Kane has a 30 goal season and averages 25 goals and 25 assists per 82 games. Schenn averages 18 goals and 22 assists per 82 games with the Flyers (played 9 games with LA and had 2 assists).

He's a skilled version of Nodl. That's not a bad thing.

Yep. Not a healthy body to be had. Flyers have lost a player 4 games in a row. Comical.

I don't think he makes players better, he is just a good support player, in that he skates well, gets in on the forecheck, and plays well defensively, turning pucks over in the neutral zone. That leads to more space and time with the puck when he plays with Giroux and Voracek. Also goes to the net and the tough areas. As you say the "little things". He's just a solid player.

One time, I wanted to go out for Italian food and ended up at the Olive Garden instead.

That sounds like the kind of player PEB could become, although I don't think he has Raffl's offensive upside.

Matt Read's literally the only player who's WOWY's look worse w/ Raffl. In most cases, he's boosting guys' possession-times by 5-6%, including 28/93. He's a puck-magnet or something.

Olive Garden gets awful jokes made about it because Olive Garden is awful.

There are plenty of independent places that serve far better food.

He might score 20 goals this year. He missed 8 games as well. He's finishing better. But point well taken. He's been a nice find.

I think he would be a solid 3rd line wing with laughton and Leirer next year as a defensive line. Their speed and defensive acumen would allow them to break up plays but still be able to create some offense chances.

Berube uses the top line with Giroux and Voracek to try and get a player going offensively. It's a common coaching strategy, although it hasn't worked for Schenn or Read. I do agree that overall, Raffl seems to have the best chemistry there, and also where Raffl seems to play his best hockey.
- MJL

I know why Chief does it, but it hasn't worked, as you've stated for Schenn or Read. Raffl compliments G and Jake well for some reason.

There's also a ton of chain and independent places that serve far worse food for far worse prices. Olive Garden is what it is. It's not gourmet Italian, but not like it's the most awful place ever in the history of ever.

That's my problem. If you want to try it, that's fine. But it hasn't worked, so I don't know why he keeps doing it. It's the definition of insanity. Then again, this is Chief we're talking about.
