I don't particularly find it reliable either, for some of the reasons you mentioned... but it's still pretty significant when every line seems to get worse when Raffl leaves it, right? (numbers corroborated by eyeballs) - Tomahawk
When it tends to be most reliable, it's when its showing a pretty universal trend.
If you have a guy who is consistently improving WOWYs across the board, he's doing something right. He migh not be driving it, but whatever is happening, is consistent. In the case of a guy like Voarcek or Giroux, it's likely because they are driving the train.
In Raffl's case I think it's because he's a smart guy, who reads the play well, and does, as you said before, the little things. He can adapt his game and fit anywhere, like a Swiss Army Winger |

Schenn has been in a goal scoring slump regardless of where he plays. I put it on the player, not the coach. I'm far more concerned about lines 2-3 then I am about the 1st line, as I'm sure everybody is. - MJL
I understand that. That is why i think Berube is allowing Schenn to stay on the top line hopeing he can get out of it. It also helps moving forward having a producing Schenn. Nothing against Raffl but I want my tops guys playing well. They need Schenn producing |

I like Raffl, and think he is a good player, but he is not an offensive catalyst. I think there's lots of reasons why lines fluctuate in play. I don't think the line of Simmonds/Laughton/Raffl has been that good. I thnk Laughton's game away from the puck is NHL caliber, but I don't think he's quite ready with the puck for a 2nd line center role. - MJL
Yeah, he's not the meat, he's not the potatoes, he's the gravy -- just brings everything together.
Laughts has a ways to go, but I suspect L2 is about to get worse while he's out. |

He's just a good player. He's been making everyone around him better ever since he was called up last year. Supremely undervalued imo |

Depends on who they put there. They could go with a two headed monster. I think that line could produce more goals, but worse possession if they put Lecavalier there. If they put Bellemare there, less goals, but better possesion. They could alternate based on matchups, game situations, etc. |

Agreed.
If I'm Chief, I'm re-shuffling the whole deck:
Raffl - G - Jake
Schenn - Coots - Simmer
Umby/Rinaldo - Bellemare - Read
Rinaldo/Umby - Vinny - VDV <-- Shelter |

I like that shakeup so long as its Umberger on the 3rd line, not Zac.

I'd put Bellemare with Raffl and Simmonds, call up White to center VDV and Vinny, and stop giving the 4th line so many minutes and Off. ZOoe starts since their best player will now be on the 2nd scoring line. |

The issue is we have to move a center off wing and weaken other lines lol |

I would maybe go with this
Schenn - Giroux - Voracek
Raffl - Vinny - Simmonds
Read - Couturier - Umberger
Bellemare - White - Vandevelde/Rinaldo |

That's not bad. I might go with something similar, maybe :
12-28-93
78-10-17
18-14-24
76-White-40
Just tossing out ideas, though.
I'd really like to get Schenn at center after seeing his snipe against the Lighning. |

Have seen no confirmation, but back to back, Zepp saw a lot of rubber last night, no sense in not going with Ray |

Possible. I'd play him a ton & try to trade Emery as soon as Mason returned. |
