Leafs could have stayed where they were that year and drafted 2 of any number of guys.... Gibson, Jenner, Saad,....

And Rakell, who looked pretty good last night. |

Boone Jenner went about 15 picks later (and the Leafs traded up to #22 to draft Biggs). Big, tough and 22 goals in his first 90 games in the league.
I don't think there's anything wrong with drafting big tough players. It's drafting them because they're big and tough that's the problem. - 1979AD
Biggs was the concensus pick at the time. Sucks, but he was.
Wisdom of trading up to get him is what I have issue with - when you're that late anyway, quantity over quality...

I don't know that he was... I recall a lot of people raising some eyebrows over it. Lots of people said that he was a Leafs pick because he looked like he had the potential to be exactly the kind of player Burke loves, but I don't know that anyone ever had him pegged to be more than a safe 3rd-4th line pick. |

Biggs was the consensus pick at #22? There's such thing as consensus picks outside the top 10? |

Yup, and agreed. No point in giving up a 2nd (early) to move up 8 spots. Just not worth it. The guys around him in that area were not worth a 2nd. |

Nice to see! I wasn't hoping they'd draft Ritchie, but at the same time you can't really call victory before either has played an NHL game. |
