I'm not accepting of hits like this. However it's obvious that players need to be responsible for leaving themselves in vulnerable positions
- Bieksa#3

I don't even see the puck in the play, Richards comes from behind him.

Meh, regardless...If I was Booth..I would have ended my career and Richards career last game against LA.

- Badge

All of you advanced stats fanatics, I hope your happy. Analytics are going to ruin the game. Everyone is going to start playing the trap and worrying about shot suppression as opposed to actually playing the game and trying to score goals. The last three games have probably been the best the leafs have played in regards to their advanced stats in years and yet its the most boring hockey I've ever seen. Would rather lose 7-5 and at least be entertained.

The NHL didn't see it that way:

This is from Colin Campbell, he's (frank)ing clueless.

I guess he must have watched a different hit, because I see MR's feet off the ground in a 4 second video.

Leaving the feet applies to pre hit not after contact.

IIRC, it actually came down to the fact that at the point of contact, his feet were still on the ice.

So it's OK if you explode into a hit, and then fly 100 feet into the air - you just can't already be in the air (for which I would like to point out that it is more dangerous if your feet are still on the ice, which gives you more leverage and results in more force).

It's the effing NHL.

They swore that you couldn't eliminate hits to the head - it would ruin hockey.

Even though the OHL had already done so, and it worked perfectly.

he jumps...he is on his way up as he makes contact with his head...he's in the midst of jumping.

not hard to see

you think he hits him and then decides to jump after?

Lupul was getting too far ahead of Booth in the man games lost to injury category so it's catch up time. You might have waited too long David! Lupul is force to be reckoned with and should not be taken lightly!

His feet do not leave the ice until after contact. Thus by the rule is clean. I'm not saying its right, but it is text book to the wording of the rule at that time

He's on the ice until contact is made. That's what the rule is.
Not sure what part of that you are having trouble understanding.
