Which makes no sense whatsoever, but... - Atomic Wedgie
Not saying it does, just pointing out what the rule is.
I see people jump multiple times a game into hits against the boards. Its rarely called, but if the hit is open ice its look at very closely. Doesn't make sense to me. |

He's on the ice until contact is made. That's what the rule is.
Not sure what part of that you are having trouble understanding. - Cfser
Not sure what part of a head check makes it legal and he leaves his feet as he makes the hit. Sure his feet are still touching the ice for .1 sec's as he hits him
Regardless, Booth must have liked it...I didn't see him whack Richards over the head with his stick last game. |

We are in agreement.
It's a stupid rule.
Once you leave the ice, the only force you can exert is your body weight and the speed you are going at.
But if you are still on the ice, you make make the hit much more devastating if you explode upwards.
But it's the NHL.
Don't even get me started on hybrid icing... |

It is, when some people thought he was going to be a regular 2nd liner. |

There was no head check rule at the time of that hit |

A lot of media chat about the need for Shanny to tear it down and rebuild the Leafs...thoughts? Would it fly with the fan-base? |

That's why Clifford isn't suspended right now for that hit behind the net a couple games ago. Blew up someone by flying in and exploding upward on him.

I believe "launching" is not ilegel.
As for Clifford, the kings are the bruins of the west. D Brown might be the dirtiest player in the league |

I'd be OK with trading what we can for some picks in the upcoming draft and see where we're at in 2-3 years. We have too many contracts to tear it down though. If we start trading our good players, we're gonna end up with bad players with similar cap hits. |

I always love this argument.
The Leafs have played 3 home playoff games in...what is it now, 10 years?
We have the most expensive tickets in the league - and that isn't changing any time soon.
There's a 100 year wait list for season tickets.
TV ratings continue to climb upward.
LeafsSports is jammed packed after every pathetic Leafs 8-2 loss, as people pull any crap they can get off the shelves with a Leafs logo on it and throw cash and plastic at the cashiers.
But we constantly wonder if the Leafs' fan base would tolerate a proper rebuild. |
