You won't be able to move the big contracts until the draft week and later; teams like PIT/CHI/SJ/BOS/TB/MTL are going to want depth and don't have much room to do it, but by March, the cap hit on guys like Winnik and Santorelli will be minescule.

We can always find those guys again (or sign them to an extension in the off-season if we really want to); we've done quite well with bargain basement pickups and there will always be cap casualties out there capable of playing similar roles.

I feel pretty good if this team actually cleans house at the deadline (everyone else, like Franson, Santorelli, Winnik, maybe Bozak) and the off-season (Phaneuf/Kessel).

Fun fact... I'm sitting in an orientation room at ConocoPhillips' Surmont 2 Project and there's probably 80 seats in here.... yet no one is sitting in the front row... they in the second row and behind... spread out... all 12 of them... why not the front row?
