Yes, that goal was completely Gardiner's fault. What the heck was he thinking? One of the first things they teach you as a defenseman is stay in front of your net. Why was he floating by the blue line??????
- Hockey_Reverend
He was watching Burns too much. (Wanting to be a rover)
Gardiner is so frustrating. One fantastic play is always negated by 3 bad ones. |

A few thoughts from last night:
1. Thornton is a terd. Shooting the puck at a playing is low. If we had a tougher team, things like that spark brawls. Really classless by Joe
2. We played well. If we had capitalized on our missed chances or our PP we could have won. Well played by the boys.
3. Once again the top line was basically a no show. THey had 2 decent shifts near the end of the game. THat was it. - Hockey_Reverend
Things just arent going their way...lack confidence...lack one/two of those guys who can pick up the team... |

Just watched the highlights on TSN this morning...great defense by Gardiner on that first goal lol. That kid is as bad as our little guy Weber and Sbisa.
- LeftCoaster
Gardiner has actually been improving. He just needs to play with someone who will cover his ass, otherwise, he can be dangerous. Still much to improve on, but hes only 24 |

That's a really really reasonable contract. Next season that's only 8% of the Rangers total cap space.
It would take 12 Marc Staal contracts for them to hit the cap ceiling.
It's not about the number, it's about the percentage of cap space used. - BINGO!
If Franson signed for 5.7 x 6 we'd have droves of trolls in here ridiculing us for such a contract and the fact is, Staal is made of glass and has barely broken 25 points twice is his career. |

I think the Preds are a better fit, on top primed for playoffs, they dont have their all star starter, and lots of prospect depth and cap room - PinkSock
I put wayyyy too much stock in Dallas this season for my fantasy team. I have the top line minus Seguin (of course) and Lehtonen.
I agree with your reasoning on the Preds. If Dallas by the deadline can climb back into the picture they COULD be a fit if they think they were just skidding. However, if they climb its probably because Lehtonen isn't sucking anymore and another goalie would just be insurance. |

I've seen most of the D-men do it this year. It's like they've been coached to follow the puck carrier.
If that's the case, there definitely needs to be more coaching changes. |

Teams have figured out they can get away with this poop against the Leafs too easily. |

Agreed. He seems a lot freer out there. Hopefully the points start coming. |

Need tough/gritty players who can play the game; not easy to find. |

But at the same time Polak's goal could be considered 'puck luck' - 1979AD
It was. Did you see all the bounces that stayed out of their net though? Post, skate and then wide. |

I posted something yesterday, no one posted any feed back.
Retain 1.5 mil of Dion's salary, making him a 5.5 mil defenseman, and trade him to Philadelphia for Lecavelier and Couturier.
Obviously Philly would want more, but I don't think that's a terrible primary offer. - BetterCallSaul
you should not have to eat/retain any of phaneuf salary.
tsn panel was saying that he may go back to Calgary in the off season. |

I was really surprised when Dion got that penalty that the ref didn't send them both off. I guess thats the veteran vs the dbag in the refs mind. |

Now you are talking crazy...
I have mentioned this before and get mocked for the old school mentality...
But sigh, others seem to prefer soft 'depth' players like Booth etc. I would prefer lunch bucket brawlers. If we can't win, at least make sure the other team knows they will have to bleed to win... |

Yep. He should have not even given a penalty for that. One cross check like that? Come on... players are giving cross checks all over the ice... |

Plus did everyone else notice Thornton had his stick rammed up Dions crotch? Another classy move |
