Just got out of the hospital after spending the night after hernia surgery. Glad that I missed that one. Another painful, trap hockey loss. I'm sore, but it would have hurt worse watching that one. Can we just trade a core piece already and get this proper retool started? - PrinceLH
Right now its def a toss up what is better Hernia surgery or watching the leafs |

Gawd, the NHL marketing department sucks.
Now I know many of you are thinking "Oh great, Wedgie is going to go on another one of his old man rants - can't he just leave us alone and focus on ensuring teenagers don't walk across his lawn?"
Shut your pie holes - I have the floor.
I actually like neon. OK, I actually love neon. Because I'm a runner, I could lie to you and tell you that all of my athletic stuff is neon because it increases visibility, so it's a safety issue.
But I won't lie to you guys - I respect you all far, far too much.
I love neon because it looks cool, and it reminds me of the world's greatest decade: the 1980s.
So here's the problem I have with the all-star jerseys - the use of neon is terrible.
As it stands now (and this is a criticism that comes up again and again and again for the all-star jerseys), the two jerseys are far too similar. Why would you have the same piping for both jerseys?
If you are going to do a neon jersey, don't be a chicken-poop - have a neon jersey. Make the entire damn thing neon yellow. Make the other one black, but with some neon accents. But here's a crazy idea - if the one jersey is highlight marker yellow, pick another damn colour for the black jersey's highlights.
I'm getting sick and tired of having to come on here every day and solve everyone's problems. |

There is no such thing as a "proper retool" with this group.
Our options are blow it up and start from scratch, or dance with who brung ya.
There is no middle ground here. |

Yes, I just got updates by smartphone. Is it true that the Leafs goal was a ricochet off the backboards? At least there where some decent milf nurses taking care of me.

I would definitely say that.
And let's be honest: we all know the proper thing to do is blow it up and start from scratch.
But we also all know that MLSEL is not going to do that.
You want to know why we keep watching these games and buying the crap they sell?
Stockholm Syndrome. |

Why can't all these MBA (frank)s realize they have a real shot at building a perennial playoff team (and millions in additional rev/year) if it's done properly?
Especially given the fact that in this market, they wouldn't be losing nearly as much rev as most teams would with the team sucking for a few years towards that end. |

no idea..I havent been watching the late games.. and dont care enough right now to watch the highlights (lowlights)
I like that the leafs have been able to turn the shots against around.. last night doesnt really count.. those will happen on b2b, 3in4, tough opp.
I just want the leafs to move out bodies now for futures..

it"s not like we're trying to trade 30 something core players. We actually have pieces in their prime that will be around in 7 years. There should be a higher return on these guys, unlike the Jerome Iginla saga. The pieces that we are moving are good secondary pieces that would help a contending team make a run. We need to get younger, but need young players with high end potential coming back. Something like it was suggested the other day, Seth Jones and a first, for Phil Kessel. Nashville's window is now, so they may want to take that gamble.

I go back to what I've said since Ballard died:
Leafs Haterz will always say that Leafs ownership doesn't want to win.
The exact opposite is true: they want to win too much.
Their plan is always to build a winner within a 3-year window - they just can't help themselves.
What we need is for the team to be sold to some Saudi oil sheik who has never seen hockey, and never really even wants to watch a game. He considers the Leafs a financial investment.
It's the only way we are ever going to take the time to build a real winner. |

I just want them to sink to the bottom 5 of the draft and get us the centre that we need. Moving some of these core pieces out, will keep them from going on a late run, once they're out, and ruining draft position, like they usually do. Also getting into the top 5 enhances your chance at winning the draft lottery, that Arizona already has in their back pocket. |

More to do with placating the season ticket holders, that pay such ridiculous prices to see this substandard product. Do you think that this would carry on, if there where 8,000 people in the building, like in Dixie?

Great point. We could tank like Edmonton for 4-5 years and still sell out the ACC. Makes no sense NOT to |

Easiest way to build a championship team is to finish last 5 years in a row.

But what happenes if the tanking completely fails like it has for Edmontom, Columbus, Minnisota? |

No one ever mentions that. It's always about Pittsburgh and Chicago.
You don't need to tank. Boston was a contender for a few years because of great second round drafting, trades and UFA signings.
It's about being an overall strong organization. |
