I struggle with McCormick to be honest , I really do but you may be right IF he can stay healthy.
- BuffaloHardHat

That's the biggest knock on him. He does his job well, when he is 100%. I feel like he plays injured because he puts his body on the line. I like McCormick. I think he brings an element that many other players are unwilling to do.

I would like to think that people don't use those below them to get ahead, but it definitely happens far too often in every sector. Murray has his plan and is sticking to it, though he needs to show more of it in my opinion by moving some of these soon-to-be free agents.

Nolan's press conference last night said a lot without saying anything "I don't want to say anything that I will regret later" or something like that.

I am not thinking that Nolan (oops) would want to intentionally keep his best players off the ice, but I am not sure how else he can send a message. It seems like nothing is getting through to these guys. The only ones that are consistent aren't the ones that can steal a game with maybe the exception of Girgensons and Ennis.

Yea it's all just disheartening to me to see Teddy just being fed to the wolves.

It's no secret that I like the guy as a man , not a hockey coach but as the excellent Father he is and human being.

I have only had a few conversations with Teddy personally but I know a genuine human being when I hear and see them.

I don't think Hodgson is lazy. He's lost. So is Moulson and most of the team, except Ennis, but one player can't do it by himself. Maybe Nolan needs to keep set lines together to form some kind of cohesion.

Girgensons doesn't have a point in 8 straight. The whole team is just lost

To be fair, it sounds like it was already Kubiak's job if he wanted it.

Hodgson had a list of knocks against him when we got him. He wasn't flourishing on a very good Vancouver team and we know the whole story with his dad being over involved. Darcy was too stubborn to let him walk so he decided backing up a dump truck of money at his front door would make him improve. It didn't. Coho only plays half of a hockey game and now that he's rich he couldn't care less if he ever improves.

What is unfortunate about that is the head coach, is supposedly, a player's coach. Nolan should have been able to get to the root of the issue by now. Maybe he doesn't want to get out of the funk.

That's exactly the kid I see on that ice every night.
He is a disgrace to the crest, seriously.
I can't believe it has been allowed to carry on as long as it has with him.
I don't think some of the guys are "lost" as some here are saying.
I think the rest of the team is in shock that some players that constantly give little to no effort are allowed to take the ice with them.
I mean if you look at the guy next to you and he is playing on your line, and he is only going through the motions, what do you think that does to the rest of his line mates?
I firmly believe some are just appalled that this has been allowed to continue with some of their "alleged" team mates.

First, I want to start off by saying that I really feel for Teddy Nolan having to coach this steaming pile defecation.

If Pegula/Pegula's are any kind of thoughtful human beings they will afford Teddy another year with some better players that will allow him to legitimately flourish or fail without as it sits right now, being set up for failure as he has been.

I think I understand very clearly now as to why Pat Lafontaine stepped down and away the way he did.
I feel Patty wanted to try and build a winner trying to win properly, not by tanking.
Pride!

Perhaps Patty was fooled or misled as to how he was first told this rebuild was going to happen and the course that was going to be taken.
Perhaps Patty was very annoyed when he found out that he lured his friend, Ted Nolan into coaching a failure (tanking) because he was led to believe something different from Terry and Ted until Tim Murray came in and that all changed.
And by the way, I know Patty hired Tim, but things and people change.

Hence why Patty left.
Teddy decided to stay because he felt he could get more out of a group of misfits, because he usually does (Team Latvia) (His past Sabres teams) (the Islanders).
Which by the way , it annoys me to no end when people say that Teddy was only made to look good because of Hasek.
What about team Latvia that scared everyone they played in the Olympics?
What about the Islander team he turned around?

I believe Ted Nolan can get the job done if he is given some help here for Christs sake.
To be honest, I think Teddy is being handcuffed by Tim with player recalls etc.
Tim has embraced the tank, Patty never did and Teddy doesn't.
It wouldn't surprise me if Teddy ends up out and out quitting before this season is done.
He wants to win, he has pride and his name is being dragged through the mud by weasel face Murray with every game that passes by.

Players that need to be outta here asap in particular order.

1.) Cody Hodgson -not even an NHL player
2.) Andrej Meszaros - best years long gone
3.) Drew Stafford - just doesn't care especially after his child being born so it seems
4.) Andre Benoit - not an NHL defenseman
5.) Cody McCormick - does nothing well any longer -concussions may be an issue
6.) Chris Stewart - 50%'er

Those players I have a problem with also because of their work ethic.
The kids that are on this roster are not being taught to play the game the right way, with integrity, by some of the "vets" above so they need to be sent packing sooner rather than later before they taint these kids forever.

- BuffaloHardHat

Certainly one possibility (though can't really say definitively that it's the right or wrong way) plenty of different versions of that story have come out since he stepped down.

Latvia didn't scare anyone though. Actually that's not true, I was terrified Gudlevskis would collapse from heat exhaustion from essentially. That being said, I'd give Nolan a fair shot at it as well, don't know how much slack they'll cut him though.

when i watched him the last two games it seems like he's trying to do too much

ALSO..i agree with the takes on Teddy Nolan....The guy's only taste is for winning..and it would be a crime to see him be a casualty of this AWFUL team

He had Latvia taking Canada to the brink with Girgs and Gudlevskis being the only two NHL quality players (Gud was actually splitting time between the ECHL and the AHL)

Give the man a chance with a roster that is at least qualified to play in the NHL...because the current sabres are not..

Well said.
He just doesn't deserve to be judged with this pile of garbage that has been tossed on the ice in front of him and told "here coach this".

Hat, I agree with everything you're saying. The optimist in me says Murray sat him down and told him to try the best he can, but it still aint going to be pretty. If he can get through a year or so, he'll get to coach some talent.

Either that, or he never said that and will fire him the minute we start getting good.

Teddy certainly had that team playing hard, believing, an entire nation and others believing for that matter with a roster just as bad as this years Buffalo Sabres roster.

One of the many problems with Regier is that he had a history of over-signing players after one good year. Stafford, Roy and Connolly come to mind. Leino, obviously.
Of course, there's always the worry of losing a player after a bridge deal if they really excel.

Yea the latter is what would be a travesty in my opinion.

Bothers me that the man has been given such a crappy hand to play.

I just hope they give Teddy and honest chance to sink or swim on his own with a roster that has at least half of it full of real NHL players because this one doesn't.

Don't bank on it. These are the same people that are willing to put together the worst team in the history of hockey and charge full price. I doubt they care about Teddy's feelings.
