If they continue playing in this lackadaisical effort in the next 2-3 seasons, we're going to continue to be just or almost as awful as we are this year no matter who's on this team. I guess that's all I really worry about.

I am not at all a Nolan fan or conspiracy guy but I really do think that he was brought in to be a placeholder. The old Nolan teams surely had heart but you have to wonder how bad they would have been had they not had the greatest goalie of all time.

They never came close to looking like the steaming pile that is the Sabres. They never had to. They weren't good those 2 years, but were at least within the realm of competitiveness of the given league they are in. Oh and they aquired Segiun and Chara as keys to winning a cup? Well I just call that good management.

You're right. It is what it is. I think you can still play with pride and show you're not playing beer league hockey. I'm not upset about where they are or how badly they lose. I just wish they would show a little effort. They're bad, everyone knows it and I am personally more than ok with it. They'll rank last when all is said and done, I just don't think it's a tall order to try.

I cant imagine them making the playoffs, but i could see them talk about trying. If i were to bet, i would say somewhere between last and just outside of the playoffs next year...the following year, actually trying to make the playoffs.

I think there's some disconnect here. I don't disagree with what you're saying, I was speaking strictly in terms of finishing 30th in the league not the validity of it. I will say that the timing of Chara hitting free agency was very convenient for them. Even with pegulas money it'll be tough convincing that class of free agents to come to buffalo.

That was part of my point, the convincing of free agents to come here. Think about what kind of damage the Sabres have done to thier image. Josh Georges loses his mind almost nightly in post game pressers. He came from a 100+ point Montreal team. You think he regrets his choice? Absolutely. As far as league image were the team in a city that never wins championships, let its 2 captains walk, let its franchise goalie get bulled over and now is the worst team statistically and effort wise probably ever. The only way that changes is if we get Mcdavid. Guys will want to play with him. It has to be Mcdavid because he's considered the god, Eichel won't have the level of mystique around him.

The ads here are a little out of control. The page will refresh on me for the sake of refreshing the ads and wipe out what im typing halfway through. And i totally understand that ads are necessary, but its just a bit too intrusive when it starts to effect the useability of the site.
