The production has been marginally better, but not by much. You go to places even such as Nashville, and you feel like you're part of a big event. You go to First Niagara Center, and you feel like you're looking over somebody creating a video in Windows Movie Maker with effects taken from Microsoft Paint.

I went the the Hasek retirement game the other night and I thought the intro video with the projection on the ice and led lighting was outstanding. I've seen better out of Montreal but its Montreal of course. The WGR/98.5 group for some reason thinks if you don't play a Pitbull song every period the ice will melt.

They should also lean on WGR to improve their product as the "official voice of the Buffalo Sabres" as well.
When ever i just listen to a game, their microphones blow out, commercials start rolling in the middle of interviews, there's dead air, they lose Paul Hamilton in the locker room every. single. game. In the post game interviews, etc.

- seedy

They are totally busch league and have an 'only game in town' approach to what they do. Before Pegula bought the team MSG was no better. Every single broadcast was (frank)ed up and Golisano thought it was gold.

So Eklund doesn't get many (if anybody) to remove ad-block, so he makes the pop-up show up more frequently. Brilliant! But it's not going to work.
- buffalofan19

I have yet to see that particular pop up when I'm at home. I get the ads at work because I'm on IE there.

It's not just the Sabres coverage that does that. Anytime the John Murphy show for the Bills has a remote guest on they seem to lose the connection.

First, I want to start off by saying that I really feel for Teddy Nolan having to coach this steaming pile defecation.

If Pegula/Pegula's are any kind of thoughtful human beings they will afford Teddy another year with some better players that will allow him to legitimately flourish or fail without as it sits right now, being set up for failure as he has been.

I think I understand very clearly now as to why Pat Lafontaine stepped down and away the way he did.
I feel Patty wanted to try and build a winner trying to win properly, not by tanking.
Pride!

Perhaps Patty was fooled or misled as to how he was first told this rebuild was going to happen and the course that was going to be taken.
Perhaps Patty was very annoyed when he found out that he lured his friend, Ted Nolan into coaching a failure (tanking) because he was led to believe something different from Terry and Ted until Tim Murray came in and that all changed.
And by the way, I know Patty hired Tim, but things and people change.

Hence why Patty left.
Teddy decided to stay because he felt he could get more out of a group of misfits, because he usually does (Team Latvia) (His past Sabres teams) (the Islanders).
Which by the way , it annoys me to no end when people say that Teddy was only made to look good because of Hasek.
What about team Latvia that scared everyone they played in the Olympics?
What about the Islander team he turned around?

I believe Ted Nolan can get the job done if he is given some help here for Christs sake.
To be honest, I think Teddy is being handcuffed by Tim with player recalls etc.
Tim has embraced the tank, Patty never did and Teddy doesn't.
It wouldn't surprise me if Teddy ends up out and out quitting before this season is done.
He wants to win, he has pride and his name is being dragged through the mud by weasel face Murray with every game that passes by.

Players that need to be outta here asap in particular order.

1.) Cody Hodgson -not even an NHL player
2.) Andrej Meszaros - best years long gone
3.) Drew Stafford - just doesn't care especially after his child being born so it seems
4.) Andre Benoit - not an NHL defenseman
5.) Cody McCormick - does nothing well any longer -concussions may be an issue
6.) Chris Stewart - 50%'er

Those players I have a problem with also because of their work ethic.
The kids that are on this roster are not being taught to play the game the right way, with integrity, by some of the "vets" above so they need to be sent packing sooner rather than later before they taint these kids forever.

Nolan's work is definitely out for him in the fact that there are more than half the players that seem unmotivated or are players that cannot hang in the NHL. I know that Matt Ellis works hard and is a good guy, but he does not belong in the NHL. He can come knock on my door after this too. He may already be breathing over my shoulder.

Stafford, Stewart, Benoit, Mez and Hodgson are perfect examples of guys going through the motions, if you could even call it that. Stewart, does have his moments. I know Nolan (through benching him, not personal conversation) wants more from him.

If Nolan wants to send a message, he should sit someone that doesn't deserve it.

I wonder if he even has the power to do so?

I really do.

I didn't single out anyone that I feels gives effort and works hard , ie: Ellis, Kaleta.
I don't have as big a problem with them because at least the losses with them would be with some pride, some integrity while wearing that Sabres crest on their chests.

The ones I named are garbage and to be rawfully honest, pissing me off that they are still allowed to put on a Sabres sweater, especially Hodgson.

I vaguely remember that either Nolan or Murray said that Nolan ultimately has the decision of who plays on the ice. I'm not saying it's ideal, but it may send a message to sit one of Ennis or Girgensons to send a message to the whole team.

Good post. Your're probably right about Patty. He was likely disgusted by the obvious strategy that was going to be employed. You're also right about team Latvia.

Cody Hodgson is beyond a disappointment. I would never want my kids to see a professional hockey player loaf around like that and think its ok. He is a disgrace. There are many disgraces on this team but he takes the cake.

But if Nolan is trying to win games and clean his muddied name off thanks to Murray.

And Murray is "embracing the tank" and above all is Nolan's boss.

There is a conflict in interest there which I think the GM will win every time.

I'm not saying what I am typing is right but it is something to think about is all.
I can see the tension grow on Teddy's face with each presser after each game lately, it's wearing on him, something is.

Don't forget, this is Tim Murray's 1st gig as a GM getting out from his Uncles shadow.
I'd bet he'd be willing to step on anyone, muddy anyone's name if he can come out smelling like a rose ending up with one of the top 2 picks with one of 2 can't miss prospects.
To be dubbed a genius GM down the road when he reaps the benefits of Teddy Nolan's set up for failure short tenure here.
For as much as Darcy was made fun of, he set Murray up well, which is quite the contrary that is being done to poor Teddy.
Murray in a few years will be looked at as great GM when in reality he has been dealt a hand loaded with aces, especially if he gets his way at the next draft.
The wrong guy will get all the praise in my opinion.

Good post. However, Cody McCormick is still a serviceable 4th liner. I had to laugh listening to Nolan say that no player has made him lose more sleep than Hodgson. He said he's tried everything with him, from X's & O's to motivation, to no avail.

I would like to think that people don't use those below them to get ahead, but it definitely happens far too often in every sector. Murray has his plan and is sticking to it, though he needs to show more of it in my opinion by moving some of these soon-to-be free agents.

Nolan's press conference last night said a lot without saying anything "I don't want to say anything that I will regret later" or something like that.

I am not thinking that Nolan (oops) would want to intentionally keep his best players off the ice, but I am not sure how else he can send a message. It seems like nothing is getting through to these guys. The only ones that are consistent aren't the ones that can steal a game with maybe the exception of Girgensons and Ennis.
