Going forward, Hextall is planning on being a seller before the NHL's March 2 trade deadline. Candidates to go include defensemen Nick Schultz, Luke Schenn, Braydon Coburn and Nicklas Grossman. Schultz will be an unrestricted free agent after the season, while the others have deals running through next season.
"Yeah, we'd love to get some picks," Hextall said. "It's a good draft. It's a deep draft and if we get a chance and it makes sense, yeah, we'd love to get some picks."
"Sometimes you have to have a vision and a plan, and is it hard? Yeah, some nights it's, 'Geez, let's try and get better.' Then you sit down the next morning and it's like, 'No. We're not going against the plan that was laid out last summer.' Other than the fact that we're 12 or 15 points behind where we thought we'd be, nothing has changed in terms of the plan, the philosophy. And it's not going to change." |

Sabres lose to Flyers. It's their 10th straight loss in regulation, first team to do so since the Penguins in Jan. 2006 (via @eliassports) That's how you tank! |

And how many more goals would our awful pk let in when he takes dumb penalties?
Theoretically we'd have more losses. - Richard_wilderness

It was not this trade alone that pushed them into the mess they are in, and nobody has said it was, but Hartnell has more assists than Umberger has points and it's in fewer games, to boot.
In terms of a strictly hockey trade it was not a good trade. Umberger's been a subpar player for a big chunk of the season. - Jsaquella

Giroux's leg is still bleeding? Why not just sit him till it heals properly? - Dkos
1.) He probably doesn't want to sit.
2.) If we talk about how hard Giroux is playing with a cut leg, how is some uninformed columnist that barely watches hockey gonna write the inevitable "The Flyers lack leadership column"?
/sees Sam Donnellon already wrote that column
Ok, nevermind. |

Also learned tonight one of my all-time favorite non-Flyers is now on Twitter:
@TeemuSel8nne
He's not even my favorite Finnish hockey player, but definitely my favorite non-Flyer.
1.) Kimmo Timonen
2.) Ilkka Sinisalo
3.) Sami Kapanen
And then, maybe Teemu. |

His cut opened up, I suppose.
His discomfort on the ice with it has been obvious. Good on him for trying to play through it. Imagine how abjectly terrible this team would be without him. It's scary. |

My values: Late first for Coburn, late second or early third for Schultz, fourth for Grossmann. No clue for Luke Schenn.
If someone offers you those, then you take them and move on, but be willing to keep Coburn because he definitely has the potential to be worth more to you.
If you move two of the four and get a third round pick or higher for either Schultz or Grossmann, I call that a win |
