Also learned tonight one of my all-time favorite non-Flyers is now on Twitter:
@TeemuSel8nne
He's not even my favorite Finnish hockey player, but definitely my favorite non-Flyer.
1.) Kimmo Timonen
2.) Ilkka Sinisalo
3.) Sami Kapanen
And then, maybe Teemu. - johndewar

My values: Late first for Coburn, late second or early third for Schultz, fourth for Grossmann. No clue for Luke Schenn.
If someone offers you those, then you take them and move on, but be willing to keep Coburn because he definitely has the potential to be worth more to you.
If you move two of the four and get a third round pick or higher for either Schultz or Grossmann, I call that a win - AllInForFlyers
I'd be shopping Streit, too. I like the guy, but he's 37.
Is he going to be here as a key contributor in 2 years on an acceptable contract ? Is it going to be difficult to replace what a particular guy brings? Those are my own personal criteria for selling. |

Yup
I'd be shopping every Dman on the team along with Emery and all forwards not named Giroux, Voracek, Couturier and Simmonds. |

Fire sale! And I think the team would be immediately better for it because of the cap savings they may be able to achieve. They certainly can sign adequate players of similar production for much less than what they are paying now.
By out RJ, and VLC, sign cheap replacements and still save money on the cap. Its about production vs cost. And if they are indeed staying the course and letting the kids develop, why pay so much for mediocre players when you can pay less?

I just keep looking deeper and deeper into this draft class and there's value even later in the draft. I'd be stockpiling picks as much as I could. |

The trouble is, what value do they have? Streit and Coburn might be worth late 1st rounders or even a little more. Schultz should get you a third. MDZ as a fairly young, under team conrol, offensive minded defenseman might be worth something.
With Emery's play, I think he may well end up fetching very little in return, if anything. I thought Grossmann was worth a third, but Bryan Allen just got waived and nobody was interested at all. Allen's a very similar guy, exact same cap hit, except he's a UFA in July. If I'm a GM looking for big, stay at home type, I'd be more interested in Allen, or Jan Hedja or others, who have deals that end in July. |

Yup, top 10 is best but beyond that there is a a lot of talent to be had & with development could become a solid pick in the later rounds. |

It's what happens when you feel you are forced to make a move for a player like McDonald and then attempt to justify it by overpaying for too long of a contract |

There's a few guys who meet that criteria. The trouble then becomes two fold-you don't have as many picks and you're stuck carrying a guy and forced to ask him to play a bigger role than he might be able to effectively handle because of a lack of salary cap space |

If by some miracle they are able to make moves that create significant cap space, we cant have them going out and blowing that money on healthy scratches/4th line players. |

i did notice one time in the caps game that G fell in the slot with nobody near him and i thought about the injury; beyond that i didn't notice it - hogweed
It happened more than once his falling forward, maybe 3 times and then last night they showed his sock with a red streak which as the talking head said, could be iodine or it could be Curt Schlling sock |

I would also be keeping Raffl and Bellemare as bargain utility players who have some skill and skating ability at low $$. They need a skilled power forward with size. You want to trade Laughton at this point? |

Sorry forgot about Laughton, would hold on to Raffl too. Bellemare is unsigned for next year so if someone actually wants him you may as well move him |

Raffl's a real value... there's just not enough of those on this team. Doesn't mean I wouldn't move him for a top-60 pick, if somebody offered it, but I'm inclined to hang on to him just to offset some of the albatrii. |

So when you get down to it, there are probably 7 forwards to start the rebuild if they can get rid of the albatrii as our other morning poster called them.
Needing one power forward, and some PK and energy line type players-maybe not the best hands but size and speed if Hexy is true to form.
No sense discussing the D, its in junior or the AHL or Europe, maturing like fine booze or cheese.
I can see Zepp in the backup role at a slight payroll reduction from Emery. |

It would be hard for me to move Streit, because while I do acknowledge his age and that what you said is more likely to be true than not true, I have trouble moving guys who have done exactly what you brought them in to do and have actually played to their contract.
Streit has been good for them, and has shown no signs of slowing down. Could be he is one of those guys who fulfills his duties as a late-30s player. |
