Who's in!?
Flyers Drinking Game
Take a shot/mouthful of beer if:
• MacDonald has a gaffe that results in a GA
• A scrub who never scores (like Gomez) or a former Flyer or a slumping player scores
• A team that is slumping beats philly
• A backup goalie shuts them out.
• An AHL goalie shuts them out (double drinks!)
• Referee Dave Jackson waves off a goal.
• An NHL rookie gets his first NHL goal.
• Umberger loses a board battle.
• They blow a 2 goal lead.
• They lose in a shootout.
• Flyers spend a full minute in their end - xShoot4WarAmpsx

Berube staying. Hextall reiterated that Berube is not the reason for the Flyers' poor season and that he has no plans to replace him. - MJL
No issues with this..
You could have Scotty Bowman with Mike Babcock and Jack Bauer as coach of the team and the way it is currently built still doesn't win them anything.
To me the coach is about the 5 most important issue on the team to fix, (behind more ice time for Rimaldo LOL, defense, top line winger, consistent offense from someone not named Giroux or Voracek) |

Oh please. What other way is there to do it?
This is the best system. It protects the parity. It's not broken so don't fix it.
No one in here is rooting against the flyers. There's a difference between wanting your team to lose and not caring if they lose. |

No...I'm serious.
Giving all 14 non playoff teams an equal shot at the top pick is not ok. At all. That could destroy franchises, simply by being unlucky.
The way it is now- inverse order of the standings, more or less, is the best way there is. Like I said- to protect parity. The 12th worst team in the league shouldn't have a shot at the best prospect in the draft. It's not even close to fair. |

I hate tanking but what really can you do? How is a team like buffalo suppose to get better if they don't get 1st shot at the draft? Trading is dead in the league. Without the bottom team getting a high pick, they are likely sitting at the bottom of the league for a long time |

Look at Edmonton, in the last 8 drafts they've selected 3rd, 7th, 1st, 1st, 1st, 10th, 6th, and 22nd. Yet they still suck, and are in position for the first overall pick again.

Saw the highlights of the Phantoms game, 1st sweet orange jerseys.
Stolarz looks huge in net, and the goal by Cousins was awesome! Partial breakaway he knows if he keeps skating and tries to get closer to the goalie the defense will get there faster, so he just rears back and rips a laser of a slapshot over the glove side shoulder of Clemmensen, who probably didn't see it just heard the sound of it as it passed by his ear
Good to see that Cousins seems to be improving after a kid of disappointing year for him offensively last year. |

Hell, I'm one of Berube's harsher critics and even I wouldn't replace him now.
And if I was GM, I'd tell the beat guys that I was gonna keep him as coach for at least another year. Zero need to tip your hand in public, especially with this media group.
I'm amazed that they haven't turned Mason into the second coming o Cechmanek or Bryzgalov yet, because he's made statements after games about the team playing better and needing to work harder.
If Bryz said that, correct or not, he'd be strung up by the media that covers this team, |

Cousins has had a really effective season. The games I have watched or attended, he's been one of their better skaters each time. It's good to see that all he needed was a bit of a learning curve and confidence to become a good AHL level player. |

They also have a hard time attracting quality free agents, don't trade to address team needs and rarely ever draft D men in the first round. |

First off some people here are rooting against the Flyers. Your not caring is a weak way of saying it as well in my opinion but take it or leave it. Does it make you less of a fan to hope your team loses to be better next year? What is happening in BUF are some fans are actively rooting against their team and saying they are the true fans because they are the ones looking to brighter days and helping the team. Secondly, I did not make any suggestions as to a solution. I pointed out a problem. You have pointed out a good problem as well, ensuring parity. So let's have a system that does both. Or does less bad. Maybe a sliding/weighted scale with regard to your last five drafts, or bottom five all have an equal chance at #1, or a system of most points earned after being eliminated, or something more clever. You're a smart guy, have at it. Anyways I'm off so I can't finish this conversation. Will be interesting tonight to see two teams struggling: go Bufalyers! |

I agree, if they are going to replace Berube during the season, that time has really come and gone. The odds of the Flyers making the playoffs are remote if not impossible at this point. If they're going to make a coaching change, make it in the off season, when the available pool of coaching talent is bigger and there is more selection to choose from.

There's a number of reasons why they're still struggling. My only point is that having a bunch of top picks doesn't guarantee anything. That's why I'm not rooting against the Flyers, or hoping that they'll lose to get a higher pick. I think the Flyers can get a very good player where ever they pick. I want the Flyers to play, try and win, and let the chips fall where they may.

29 points in 74 games last year, he already has 24 in 36 games this year
The guy definitely has skill, scoring 104 his last year in the OHL but those always don't translate to the pro level looks like he's finally finding his rhythm. I think he can be and hope he will be a very good 3rd line player for this team some day. |

He's got skill and he's a feisty little bastard. He'll get under people's skin for sure. If he can do that and score 10-12 a year, it's a win win. Murray's also used him a bit on the PK and PP, so he's getting his feet wet there, too |
