definitely a little both.
and yeah, i really like it too. im sold on him as a player. but he really doesnt seem to be whats wrong with the team right now.
but hey, whats not having a pick within the top 90 selections this year haha - stayinthefnnet
Yeah, but you guys are good already, plenty of defensive prospects, & your cornerstone forwards are still young.
Man, what team wouldn't exchange all the prospects they have, (and whatever else), to have a power play of,
Crosby
Malkin
Letang
and either two of, Hornqvist, Kunitz, & Perron.

and yet somehow they still manage to have anemic stretches where they hover in the single digits haha
i love them, but its painfully obvious that there is still something mentally wrong with that team. |

You guys have had your share of injuries, no offense, look at the Rangers, and how they struggled early on.
Once they got healthy, they start beating everyone.
you guys are still missing a few main guys, plus, the changes on defense didn't help.
I think when people speak of injuries, they need to mention when important players are out, (as oppose to 3rd, & 4th liners, you guys were missing key elements as much as any other team. |

Rangers are a bad matchup for both Pennsylvania teams. They play a system, wait for the opposing team to make a mistake and pounce. They're like The Iceman. All patience and counter punching, until they get a lead, and then they stifle you |

hornqvist will be great to get back.
and maattaa and dupuis are both rough breaks, but you cant expect them. just hope they get well.
i still would just like to see some resiliency. |

Funny, AV wasn't considered that type of coach in Vancouver, I guess he's managing to get the best out of what he has. |

usually i find their style boring even just as a fan of hockey, but today they had some good offensive spark to their game. nash has been getting it done this year. |

No, but he's smart enough to realize his team's strength's and weaknesses. He adapted from what worked with the Canucks to what worked best with the Rangers. |

You guys lost 2 top 4 defensemen in one summer, (yeah I know, Orpik gets a ton of slack for the $ he received, but he is a top 4 guy, nonetheless).
Asking the prospects to make up the difference is way over their heads, (its not like the Rag's lost 2 main defensemen in one summer), so that does matter. |

It took him a while, but yes, he has adapted.
I wonder if Berube is doing the same?
No offense, but the 1-2-2, that he's employed in the 2nd half, (I think), suits them better, it seems that they are able to limit the opposition's chances employing it, (sometimes).

orpik leaving hasnt been overly detrimental to me. and i will take hoff over niskanen any day of the week.
the pens would have been better off it the capitals defectors would have smuggled scuderi out with them. he is an absolute killer.
despres is still struggling a bit with consistency, but overall he has been pretty good. maattaa being out hurts a good deal. but yeah, pouliot and harrington arent ready to be top 4 guys. |

Berube, to me, is still a mixed bag. He's not the worst coach in the world, but he does make some real head scratching decisions.
I don't have a ton of faith in him, but Hextall has backed him publicly. Is he to blame alone? Absolutely not, but he shouldn't be excused because he has a bad roster. |

Its still a lot of shuffling, reorganizing, who plays with who?, managing the minutes, etc.
Cap wise, $25 million for Syd, Gino, & Letang, doesn't help either, it hurts your depth.
We'll experience this when Voracek gets his $8 million in a year & a half.

definitely agree about the cap. its hard. your big guys need to consistently play like it, as there really arent many quality people coming to save them. and injuries become excruciatingly magnified.
and yes. yes you will |

i hate dump and chase hockey, but it really is the only way to beat it.
the only time the pens ever play anything resembling dump and chase is when scuderi attempts a pass to anyone other than his defensive partner. |

And that is a little odd, as its not his hire, usually a new boss wants his own guy.
Unless he's being a realist, in that, what could any coach do without a #1 D man?
I don't blame him completely, but somethings he does makes you wonder:
Asking more of Courturier, (to score), but still employing him to play 3rd line, when elevating him to play with Simmonds could help both players.
Not using AMac on PK, really? When he's used both "clydesdale" horses Schenn, & Grossmann together?
Rinaldo gets a long leash, but Akenson can't make the lineup?
There are others, but I'm too inebriated to think of them right now. |

I get it. I've said many of the same things, Berube's an old school coach. He's been dealt a bad hand, but he's played it poorly, IMO.
If he's still here next season, I'd imagine the leash will be short. Also, If I was Hexy, I'd back him publicly, too. No sense to make a comment that will hang over the poor bastard's head until he is fired. |

oh yeah. just use your imagination for the flowing locks, but after watching scuds youll think grossmanns outlet flips are precision tape to tape 100 footers. |
