Not just your opinion. The Kings have to do something to get a Dman, there's no doubt about that. But to get one that diminishes the roster during the season isn't the answer. That's all I'm saying. Lets say Pearson didn't get hurt, do people really think that trading Richards, Pearson, and a 1st for Phaneuf is a good trade for LA? To be clear, no one said this trade but some are hinting that just because Richards pretty much is a 3rd/4th line guy that LA has to throw in another player to counter for his lackluster play because Phaneuf is a 20+ min Dman. No doubt Phaneuf is the better player in the deal but for LA to make a trade like this would most certainly be an offseason deal. (Pearson not getting traded, I just made example) - RobitailleFAN20
Pearson and a 1st seems like way too much

He is not. Complete myth. Kessel has been more consistent than Pavelski.
And the "Two-Way" player bit means less when Pavelski is not a first line player, yet Kessel is.
And how is Kessel a liability when he's not scoring? You've borrowed that from the media. The fact is when Kessel is not scoring, he's all over the ice making plays.
Phil Kessel=Underrated. 410 straight games played and elite offensive talent. 3rd most NHL points the last 4 years. All with Bozak as his centre.
We'll get more than Joe Pavelski, thanks. - RogerRoeper

As who gets I'd be lying if I said Kempe isn't a good prospect. But he's far from bluechip |

Older, more injury prone, less offense with more talent surrounding him.
Makes sense.
Kessel=Underrated.
Question, why do you want a centre over a winger being a Pens fan? Kessel would kill it with Crosby/Malkin. |

Its a lot easier to score when you refuse to back check. Or is the media telling me that?
Kessel doesn't have a terrible contract(certainly not a steal either)but its a big one that would have limited teams willing or the ability to take it. |

This is complete nonsense.
In 2009' at the time of the trade, EVERYONE said Kessel only scored in Boston because of Marc Savard. Without a Savard, he wouldn't be the same player.
Kessel has done the exact opposite: Better numbers with Tyler Bozak.
Now people like you are making excuses again and claiming he only scores because he doesn't play defense. |

I was just talking in general, being a pens fan I wouldn't want Kessel anyway. Too much cap hit for us and only provides offense.
Centers are worth more than a winger in value, plus Pavs plays a two way game |

So pavelski has more offense around him on they 2nd line(as you said he's not a 1st liner) then kessel on the 1st line? So does JVR suck?
And I'm sure what the last pharagraph is asking me? I'm not a pens fan, however they have 2 franchise centers |

You won't be able to get a player of Phaneuf's calibre in UFA for any thing less than what he's making now... he's a top pairing d-man, #1 on a lot of teams... He's probably worth a 1st and a prospect without the Leafs taking back a similar contract for a 4th line C... so with Richards coming back, it had better be a damn good prospect. |

If you're talking about a first line center vs a first line winger then yes. But the first line winger means more value than a second line centre., |

He back checks. He's not a strong 2-way player, but he's not a one zone guy either. A lot of his offensive chances start with him being one of the few players on the team capable of moving the puck out of his own zone. |

So they are paying a 1st and prospect for a salary dump.
Since its not debatable that clarkson is considerably worse then Richards. Would you move 2 1sts to dump clarksons contract |

He's not offensive, but he's not awful. Still a very good defensive player. Cycles the puck, face off man. |
