We're 55 seconds into the game and we already know where Jaden Schwartz was born and where he went to college. - Giroux_Is_God
I was going to watch, but I think I'll pass. Regis makes my blood boil and boiling blood is bad for you.. so, with the state of my health firmly in mind, I shall wait til tomorrow night's tilt with the Pens.

Do you ever think, because of your fandom, that you sometimes, maybe overvalue the Flyers' players just a bit? Perfectly natural. We all do it from time to time. - PhillySportsGuy
No I don't think so. Do you think that you overvalue the Flyers players just a bit? How about undervaluing the Flyers players just a bit? Perfectly natural. |

I'd pass on that deal quickly. - MJL
Why? Stone is younger, bigger and has more goals and only six fewer points than Baby Schenn

Fire up the bus and get me that pick!!
It's a tough one, because B.Schenn could still easily be the best guy out of the deal. Stone has been solid for the Sens, and has been productive in the AHL and juniors, not sure he has the same upside. - Jsaquella
I dunno fellas. I think I might still say no.
It's a fair deal, but I'm still one of those guys who doesn't want to trade away Brayden. Unless, quite obviously, he's packaged for a top pairing, young defenseman.
Certainly not vehemently against it though. Definitely can see why some would take that. |

That's the thing, without adding the 2nd, this is a pretty lateral trade. Wiercioch is an upgrade on defense, he's big, decent offensive ability, but sometimes struggles in his own end and doesn't use size especially well at times.
Basically it's adding another guy that fits in the 4-5-6 defenseman group that they have a lot of. |

Because I think that Schenn is the best player in the deal. And I don't think that Weircioch is that good. |

They'd have to like those two kids a lot to make the deal. The optics of trading a couple former top-5 picks for a couple of guys who are probably just as good, but don't have the marquee reputation, wouldn't be easy to pull the trigger on. |

Bottom line is that you are picking your poison -- no trade is bulletproof, you know?
I'd do something like Schenn Bros for Stone and Wiercioch because I know that Chief doesn't truly believe in Luke Schenn and that $3.6 million has gotta go, if that's the case, and I would risk Stone for Baby Schenn's upside since Wiercioch can play in a Top 6 and Stone is producing
Some people wouldn't, and that's OK. Just spitballing

The cap aspect helps the Flyers, too. The Schenns are $6.1mm for next season, Wiercioch is at $2mm, and Stone is around $900K, but is a RFA this summer. |

Yup.
Realistically though, I think it's safe to say Brayden isn't going anywhere any time soon. Again, if they didn't trade him for Weber......
Besides, he's not exactly poopting the bed. He's only what? 23? Second full season in the NHL? Kid's gonna be a 20 goal scorer again this year.
He's not exactly showing us he's a scrub. We as fans might want to see him be a little more consistent, but man- once he finds that, watch out.
I do think he can be a pretty nice offensive weapon. |

I'd like to get that 2nd rounder Ottawa has for Spezza, too. I'd expand the trade to give up a prospect or a later pick to get that 2nd.
I see both sides of it. It's got it's good sides and bad. |

Do you know that Stone will? Weircioch is not nearly a good enough defenseman to take the risk.

Don't get me wrong, I totally lean hard toward keeping Schenn at all costs. Was just wondering what OB's opinion was on that kind of deal, since we were playing the trade game.
The Vinny deal above would be what I'd be working hard to make happen instead. |

Younger than Schenn, putting up goals and points, bigger., a natural winger..that risk isn't THAT much. Stone's a former first-rounder, too -- it's not like he doesn't have a pedigree |

If Hextall goes trawling for picks, that's a team to deal with. Murray isn't scared to make deals involving picks. One of the few old-schoolers left with a set of brass ones

missed the game due to work. you'd think at least I would have off today, i mean i am BLACK francis and all...
anyway, saw the highlights...didn't look good but that doesn't tell the whole story. did anything look particularly good or bad today?
as for back-reading...i'm one of those people that either want both schenns or neither of them. it's sad because if playing together on the same team was going to spark either one of them it would have happened with us. doesn't seem to be the case.
but i'll be damned if we end up with the lesser of two schenns. you want brayden? you will need to take luke with you. |

He doesn't have the same draft pedigree, but his numbers from junior were eyepopping, and he had himself a standout WJC for Team Canada, too. Very very similar to Schenn. |
