Realistically though, I think it's safe to say Brayden isn't going anywhere any time soon. Again, if they didn't trade him for Weber......

- Giroux_Is_God

boy do i wish we ponied up and traded coots/schenn + for weber. all this speculation as to whether these players will pan out...we wouldn't be thinking that about a defenseman like him.

i am torturing myself.

Vinny for Greening and Gyba
- Jsaquella

I wish. At least Greening has some size

Vinny...just don't think he'll waive for Canada

Then...you should probably skip watching that one too

I have a bet for six whole internets that we're going to win tomorrow night. I have faith. Until the Pens actually start winning these matchups, I'm just going to assume they'll find a way to lose to the Flyers.

Don't get me wrong, I totally lean hard toward keeping Schenn at all costs. Was just wondering what OB's opinion was on that kind of deal, since we were playing the trade game.

The Vinny deal above would be what I'd be working hard to make happen instead.

- Tomahawk

Missed the Vinny deal, what's that one?

Fire up the bus and get me that pick!!

It's a tough one, because B.Schenn could still easily be the best guy out of the deal. Stone has been solid for the Sens, and has been productive in the AHL and juniors, not sure he has the same upside.

Hurricanes absolutely annihilating the Leafs in Toronto -- kind of performance that if the coach hadn't already been fired, he could have been

Gotta wonder how long the Leafs wait to drop a bomb on someone on that roster

You think this team + Weber, minus Schenn, Coots, and 2 high picks, would be in better shape then they are now?

....eh..

Being a Blues "fan" (i.e., they're my Western/second team, easily) I have that one on.

Great 1st period so far.

I'm praying to jesus for the Jackets to win their game against Minny via OT or SO.

NJ better freakin win in SJ tonight, too.

The Canes are so fast, the Leafs don't even have time to debate whether or not they feel like playing defense this shift.

Yes.
Weber is the new Pronger. A complete dman is so hard to find. He is a monster of a man, he shoots the puck harder than anyone in the NHL (Chara maybe but I think Weber passed him by now) he eats minutes, fights, a true leader.

I am glad everyday that you guys didn't get Weber, not that it matters when you're playing my Pens you win regarless. Its just nice that we dont have to worry about losing to you in the playoffs this year, like we would be if you'd of traded for Weber.

Jackets have 4 games at hand on the Flyers and are 2 points behind them. I think they'll pass the Flyers pretty soon.

3rd is as high as they can get, but teams like Jersey and Arizona may start selling off some of their more talented players

Believe me. I was praying to the hockey gods, the hockey buddha, and all the hindu gods that they wouldn't match that offer.

I was against trading away coots and schenn though. Too much. Even for Weber, who is clearly a top 5 defenseman in the NHL.

Moreover, adding Weber to this D corps changes nothing. We'd have Weber, and then a slew of #5-6s. That does not a bubble team make, let alone a playoff team.

Finally, the forward corps without Coots or Schenn would be even worse than your Penguins' forwards at this moment.

It would be G, Jake, and then a bunch of 3rd liners.

A team with a great defenseman, a great goalie, and 2 great forwards with scrubs everywhere else would be seeing a top 5 pick. A supporting cast in this league is imperative.

Jersey is brutal -- they're not finishing higher than the Flyers. Arizona's gonna sell hard, according to Dreger
