31, huh? interesting. Wonder what the term will be - AllInForFlyers
yeah. i dont know. it can be tricky since itll probably be his last big deal. so when he asks for 6 years, as much as i think he would be the perfect thing for what ails the pens, its hard to not have pause.

Holy poop -- it was PHANEUF that Eric Staal fired that slapper at, at the end of the game. He totally owned it, after the game. Wow - AllInForFlyers
That team needs a hard reset. Nobody likes Phanuef and Kessel as the faces of your franchise. It must be an absolute nightmare to root for that group. |

All I can say is we are in trouble! Take away 93 + 28 and Mason and the Buffalo Sabres will beat us. I have no answers but the Flyers look real bad and really need Mason to at least steal one. |

To be honest they are higher than us in the standings and we have nothing to feel good about after 93 and 28.

The Kings are not playing so well of late, and the Flames have been surprisingly improved this year... might be worth a watch. - Doc_Sarcasm

Giordano is their best player, Monahan their best forward. This team is going to be scary good. They've drafted some really good players the past 3-4 seasons that are all going to get to play with one another in short order. - mochoson
Not to mention they have one of the best coaches in Hartley and another hot shot coming in Sam Bennett as early as next year. Gaudreau will be even better next year too. |

Believe me. I was praying to the hockey gods, the hockey buddha, and all the hindu gods that they wouldn't match that offer.
I was against trading away coots and schenn though. Too much. Even for Weber, who is clearly a top 5 defenseman in the NHL.
Moreover, adding Weber to this D corps changes nothing. We'd have Weber, and then a slew of #5-6s. That does not a bubble team make, let alone a playoff team.
Finally, the forward corps without Coots or Schenn would be even worse than your Penguins' forwards at this moment.
It would be G, Jake, and then a bunch of 3rd liners.
A team with a great defenseman, a great goalie, and 2 great forwards with scrubs everywhere else would be seeing a top 5 pick. A supporting cast in this league is imperative. - Giroux_Is_God
Well you did pick up alot of the trash you have on the backend after the Weber deal didnt happen.
Weber signs you probably arent trying so hard to improve your defense by adding McDonald, Streit or DelZotto.
Sure losing Coots and Schenn would have hurt. But you could have picked up a free agent or made some trades to replenish your depth.
Meh. I guess an argument can be made either way, but Weber is a terrifying opponent Coots and Schenn not so much.

coots terrifies Malkin
What you said here is spot on though. We'll never know, and here we are. Can't change much.
Good luck tomorrow, but I hope your boys lose |

Then Berube is an idiot....if he benched a guy for playing the way you said he is....why would a 5 million dollar player be a healthy scratch???? Like most Flyer articles in Philly that one was laughable. - landros 2
Nothing laughable about it. The Flyers have 7 bona fide NHL defenseman. The coach wanted a more physical lineup to play against the Caps and their physical forwards on the cycle.

I've thought for awhile now the disparity between Grossman and Lauridsen is pretty small. I've said this on these boards a few times, and understand why most disagree. I'm excited to see how he does with his second cup of NHL coffee, assuming he gets to play.
Oli' has a (frank)ing cannon. Clapbombs all day says I. - mochoson
The disparity between Lauridsen and Grossmann is pretty large. To the point where Lauridsen is very unlikely to ever be a regular defenseman in the NHL, and Grossmann is in his 9th NHL season and has played over 500 games.
