I stopped reading when the dude started taking digs at the actual city of Buffalo.
First of all, you could clone gretzky and some southern cities wouldnt care if he was on their team. Bettmans dream of "basketball on ice" is over. He got some of what he wanted, but it didnt work everywhere he wanted, like Atlanta....AGAIN.
Second, buffalo is a huge american hockey market. it generates revenue through ticket sales and TV advertising. He needs to embrace it. Look it chicagos ticket sales when they sucked compared to buffalo's....its remarkable. Especially considering the differences in the size of the cities. This writer could have manned up and wrote a story about how Buffalo is way way overdue and that their only downfall has been trying to win with what they had over the last 40+ years. But instead, he chooses to embrace the natural hockey environment of cactus and palm trees. But i guess thats what you have to do when you write for yahoo.

Theres just certain parts of the country where hockey doesnt interest people because its on par with lacrosse and womens softball.
