Stringer Bell's death scene... man, one of the best moments in recent TV history, IMO.
- Tomahawk

I'm partial to the scene with Omar on the witness stand.

Also, the time Omar robbed Marlo at the poker game: "I think you have me confused for a man that repeats himself".

I just re-watched it recently, so yeah....I could go on and on.

You forget how amazing some of the little things are. Prop Joe doing impressions on the phone... "Sidney Handjerker with Handjerker, Cohen, and Bromberg."

So you think48 games trumps 3 seasons worth of games.
- MJL

Yes. To sit him for a game or two, yes. Goalies sit all the time for a bad stretch in far fewer than 48 games.

Goalies are a different situation, and there is normally a competent backup in place for that very reason. There isn't a good option to replace Read.

Cleared to play isn't the only variable in the equation. There's a huge difference between Read and Downie in my opinion.
- MJL

there is ....Downie has been a better player this year and done more in his career.

Steve Downie has 6 more career goals than Matt Read in 132 more games.

Downie hasn't been anywhere near as good as Read has been in his career.

They could shuffle the lines around, and then someone has to take Bellemare's spot, and the end result is still a weaker lineup.

Yes. Matt Read's team beat Steve Downie's team.

Therefore, Read > Downie.

why because you say so? one guy hits, fights and is noticeable most nights if healthy....Matt Read had 2 ok seasons as a 20 goal scorer and has been absolutely brutal this year....Downie has had 3 fairly productive seasons before this one and too use one of your terms....Is on "pace" this year to have another good one.

Sure, but at some point in time, since we're losing anyway, you have to wonder how much a competent backup really matters. Further, Read is -8 with fewer goals than Umberger, VLC, VDV and PEB, so I wonder how hard it would be to find an equivalent replacement for his game as it stands right now.

Not really, move VL back to center and bring up any one of Jones/Gordon to fill the last spot.

If they were really trying to avoid a weaker lineup, they'd have had Akeson on L2 last night, anyway.
