Eagles should trade their next 15 years worth of draft picks to get some kid who's never played a game of NFL football in his life and is the best QB in a somewhat weak draft. |

I recently tuned into 97.5 (long story) and got this beautiful spiel from a caller, who metaphorized Foles as a truck stop sandwich with no mayo or onions, and Mariota as "a nice, herb-y hoagie from a nice lady on Lansdowne Avenue." He then went on to say Philadelphia would chew up and spit out Mariota, because he's too nice.
tl;dr: Philly spits out good sandwiches (?) |

I'm just trying to figure out how Downie's a better player than Read (if we're talking about career averages) simply because he hits and takes bad penalties. - jmatchett383
Although they are close in production...I just think Downie has the physical, agitator, tough to play against player that Read doesn't bring....Downie has some skills...I'm not comparing read to Rinaldo. |

So, Letang is responsible for getting smashed into the glass because he didn't move? He should have known that Rinaldo was going to hit him late and from behind? - jmatchett383
yes and recievers should still be decapitated when going over the middle of the field, sorry, guess im just old school. |

I don't think Letang is responsible for getting smashed from behind, and I know there its no way in heck that he could have possibly known Rinaldo was going to hit him from behind. Rinaldo should be suspended. Period.
However there were players in the flyers line up that NEVER would have hit Letang like that. And there are also players in the flyers lineup that Letang, Farnham and Downie may have hit like that. If a flyers player got smoked from behind like that, I'd be upset 'cuz I'm a fan.
At the same time, those guys need to know who they can relax a little with and who tends to play outside the rules. Its not right...it just....is
Rinaldo and Downie are both going to finish their checks. Some will be clean hockey plays, some will be travesties.
All I'm saying is if those types of players are on the ice, you have to trust only in yourself and your actions. Putting faith in players like Rinaldo to play within the rules at all times, is a mistake.
What's that story about the snake that crosses the dessert with a rabbit and promises not to bite the rabbit. The rabbit believes the snake and eventually gets bit and the snake says "what do you expect? I'm a snake."
Same thing. - dmorin
I understand what you're trying to say, but here is where I think the analogy goes wrong. If a player is not aware of his sorroundings and who he is out on the ice with, and he gets laid out with a clean legal hit, well then maybe he should be more aware. The hit wasn't a legal hit and that's where the issue is. |

i wont disagree with those numbers. i dont even necessarily disagree with the premise. but to say the pens just dressed all those scrubs for this game is a little misleading. unfortunately theyve been stuck playing this dreck for most of the year. |

20 maybe even 10 years ago, that hit would be considered sending a message or protecting one's territory, now its highschool bullpoop of we dont like that guy so even tho won the fight we'll just say its cause he fought dirty. |

Never a fan of that argument for a simple reason....where's the responsibility on the " player"... It's as much about your own play as it is about who you play with. |

yeah. they have.
really, aside from rinaldo, the flyers dont have that element on the team from anyone in a consistent basis.
saying they are a straight goon squad is the same line of thinking that mason will be an awful goalie simply because hes a flyer.
at the risk of captain obvious, im just pointing out that it is easy to skew things via writing. its not like sill was groomed and ready and waiting for this role all along. unfortunately hes been fairly regular in the lineup. |

Things would probably look a lot different in this series if the Pens could win some games. You always look bad when you lose. If the Pens were winning these games, we'd be talking about how the Flyers need to tone it down and stop getting the Pens pumped up. |

Dude.. the Pens have 9 misconduct penalties this season so far. The Flyers have 2. Their first game misconduct came last night. |
