Xeralto is way more expensive compared to warfarin so I guess it evens out.

I would think playing on blood thinners would be way too risky.
A major internal hemorrhage could kill him.

How a doctor could clear him with that risk is beyond my understanding.

If he has the genetic clotting disorder that predisposes you to getting blood clots the treatment is taking blood thinners for life.

There are some forms of blood thinners that you can take as an injection once or twice a day. There may be a way to schedule these injections where he takes the medicine after a game, to limit the risk of bleeding. I'm speculating about this last part.

That's just a false assumption on your part. I know how things are here. If Rinaldo comes off of suspension and plays, it's going to be the hot topic.

His contract length would likely limit the return coming back.

Look at what Hartnell's deal did for his trade value.

Up until recently all the blood thinner monitoring had to be done in a clinic. So appointments and travel time.
I think now you can check it at home just like glucose monitoring.
But the majority don't have home monitoring yet.

I think they would be wise to sell high on Mark Streit.

If the Flyers made him available I think they could get a huge return. Guy is 4th in the league in points for D men. He could conceivably be the best player available at the deadline in that regard.

I'm not exactly the end all be all entity here, but taking my (relatively limited) medical knowledge I'm saying with 99% certainly that as long as he has clots anywhere, they're not even going to entertain the thought of him playing. Regardless of treatment.

The issue with Streit isn't his performance, he's played well, it's his age and contract term. Not sure a contending team would want to take it on, in addition to giving up considerable assets.

But given his age, if someone came with a strong offer (1st rounder or high-level prospect) I'd be more inclined to deal him.
