Exactly! It was no different then when the Isles and Penguins brawled a few years ago. That was my point if you're gonna call the isles/pens incident bush league then the same should apply to that incident, no? It had nothing to do with the Flyers starting anything. If a Bruins fan called the isles/pens incident bush league I would have found an example using a Bruins game as well - Vukota
Didn't I preface my point by saying that I know it's pot/kettle coming from a Flyers fan? I'm not going to defend Emery (although it was goalie/goalie, not AHL call-up goon/goalie), and by the same token, I'm not gonna absolve Haley. |

Yeah, the thought that it's a "gametime decision" is mind boggling (no pun intended). He's come back too soon from a concussion before, just give him some time off and make sure he's fine next week. - rival22
I agree. I think having him obviously helps with any chance of getting 2 points tonight but it's not worth risking a setback if there's even a hint of concussion symptoms. |

Letang probably embellished the hit so the refs could help the Penguins even more.

He was going to do the head flip to draw the penalty, he just accidentally went forward instead of backwards. |

Well, it will just be a mini preview of what the team will look like after they trade Martin for picks. |

Talbot shouldn't have been jawing or laughing at injured players on the ice during that game and the game before. He was always good for that. Stirring the pot and turtling soon after. I don't mean this in a derogatory way but I have no idea why yiou guys hitch your wagons to a player like that? He was the biggest perpetrator during that whole sequence of events. - Cptmjl
I don't know why the Penguins would hitch their wagon to a player like Talbot either. I mean it's not like his fight changed the Flyers series or that he scored the only goals in a Game 7 of a Stanley Cup Final. |

yeah true but you dont need to be a jackass to play good defense. i may be in the minority, but paul martin's PKing in overtime was literally one of the highlights of the game for me. - stayinthefnnet
I agree with the idea...and having watched for many years I appreciate those things very much. The much maligned Rob Scuderi made some very nice self sacrifice type plays last night that make the games more fun for me as a fan.
But you know...the 'talk'...is half the games entertainment value today.
They will certainly talk about this tonight prior to the Pens game with the Hawks.
And would Ryan have written a Wednesday blog like this and seen over 400 responses....if those things didn't happen last night? I think NOT.
Understand the animal you are wrestling with and as long as it doesn't kill you (or someone else)...keep going. |

I also can't recall an era where it was as accepted that delivering a hard, clean hit ran the risk of being jumped. Totally separate issue but also very culturally disturbing. |

He basically won them a Cup twice that season. If the Flyers win Game 6 (as they should have, god damn Carcillo), I think they go back to Pittsburgh and win Game 7. Heck, they should have won game 2, but that's in the distant, distant past, and a whole different story. |

I'd substitute Scuderi here but I think we both know that would just end with me waking up disappointed at my desk.

That sounds like a bunch of people with a he-said/she-said where all parties involved decide to settle out of court to avoid more public backlash. But, like I said, if Bertuzzi testified that Crawford made him do it, then you have grounds. I wasn't aware that he did that. - jmatchett383
Bertuzzi and Nonis, who was part of the Canucks management team at the time, i think. |

Talbo has balls. That's what the Penguins hitched their wagon to. He had the balls to shush the Philly crowd after losing a fight, down in the game. Something happened to the Penguins right after that where they at least stopped finding ways to lose games. |

that overtime period proved enough that if you want to trade martin for picks, i guess its your prerogative, but youre basically conceding the season. |

Did I say I do? I love Martin. I mean to say that if we were peddling a defensmen I'd hope it were a mid tier prospect or Scuderi. The Martin ship has sailed due to the Maatta injury. |

The hustle and, what, 3 takeaways/clears from Giroux was maddening...from a Flyers' fan perspective. |

if i'm voracek, i would have very much taken offense to scuderi going as low as he did on me, if thats the issue youre talking about. |

sorry. the "you" in that sentence wasnt really anyone in general. i wasnt even responding to anyone specific. basically just the idea of it.
hell, there was a time not too long ago where i wanted him to get on the same bus as michalek out of here for 5 million a year. |

If the NHL wants to supress goon and rat play, it must force the refs to enforce the rulebook, impose draconian fines on the players, coaches, GMs, team presidents and teams. Would, say, the Flyers have Rinaldo on the team if his 'play' resulted in fines and lost draft picks? Would the Flyers keep Rinaldo if his hit to Letang resulted in the Flyers forfeiting its First Round pick which the NHL would then assign to the Pens? I believe the answers to these questions are obvious. |

granted, i did most of my watching on a computer screen, so i didnt have the luxury of great detail. but to me it appeared he was low. scuderi really doesnt strike me as a dirty player, just largely an incompetent and slow one these days. |
