i dont know which disgusts me more, the fact that we cant beat the flyers who have ray emery and rob zepp in net, we look terrible right now in most facets, or that we didnt win a single fight last night. sill was the only person who had a decent fight and thats bc the guy he fought doesnt usually fight im pretty sure |

First of all i agree with the blog for the most part. The hit was late and high and no doubt deserves a suspension. With that being said some of these comments are ridiculous. Yes the flyers play a rough dirty style against the Penguins which all teams will probably start leaning towards as its obvious the penguins dont respond well to it. The game was chippy on both sides and your showing blatant bias if you disagree with that. And to say voracek should have been kicked out? Give me a break. He is the leagues leading scorer and got rocked, so instead of waiting for someone to stand up for him he stood up for himself. Its called sparking a team! When you have Wayne simmonds saying how motivating it was to see the leagues leading scorer stand up for himself and throw "uppercuts from hell", in my opinion job well done! Fighting has a place in the league its a tool and Voracek used it to perfection period.
So you're saying it's okay to jump a defenseless player just because you got hit cleanly? Let alone one who has never been a dirty player in his career? The game was fine until Rinaldo boarded Letang. |

Voracek whooped Scuderi boo whoo
- RobFlyers#1
C'mon voracek got lit up on a good clean old school hip check and felt so embarrassed that he went after a guy who has never fought amd jumped him before he even knew what was going on.
If that was the other way around, you guys would be outraged... and I'm not saying borts on claude but like sutter on del zotto... it's stupid and not warranted.
Also.. Gunner no mention of sill sitting for goc after you wrote a whole blog on how goc is great |

I loved the game, found nothing wrong with the Rinaldo hit, besides it was a little late.
I wish every single game was like last nights game, a true joy to watch. - nbartley9

you know what's funny? That the very same people commenting on this board could write that Brock Nelson dove when Steve Downie broke his stick in half crosschecking him in the back, could be outraged by a hit from behind.
Yes this is a league wide problem, but after reading "we need more of these players who will run around and hurt people" from more than one penguins fan it feels a little bit like karma. - Isles_since_6
Whats with you Islanders fans, why are you so obsessed with us? Is weird |

There's only one tool I see.... it's the one who repeatedly calling a guy leagues leading scorer...Instead of his name... maybe we should call sid and geno cup champs or art Ross winners. ..hmm I kinda like that... |

Leave it to the Pens to start crying over a player being injured. Yet your team has been a culprit of dirty head shots for years now. Cry me a river. YOU MAD BRO?? |

I thought last nights game was one of the best I've seen all season(not a fan of either team) when I think about hockey that game was exactly what comes to mind.i wish everyone would stop whining about the DOP so much, your not in there shoes and have no clue as the pressures they get from the GM's about lengthy suspensions so stop trashing them. Dirty plays/players are going to be in the sport no matter how many rule changes or suspensions they dole out. Sounds like everyone wants to turn the sport into basketball ,high scoring ,no contact sissies. |

You are acting like it was Bob Probert going after Scuderi. Clean hits lead to fights all the time! Crosby and Malkin are superior enough players that to be honest they usually never put themself in the position to be hit like tha and kudos to them, but again its not like Scuderi turtled or didnt put up a fight. Big hits lead to fights theres no denying it, clean or dirty. Look I am all for getting rid of the head shots, the flying charges and the hits from behind. They are careless and reckless, but again i firmly beleive fighting has a place in this game like it has forever. Whether your team chooses to use it that way is up to them. Dont pretend that if Crosby got angry enough to drop the gloves that his entire team wouldnt rally around that, you know they would. Granted Crosby will never make the mitake of taking himself off of the ice for 17 minutes but its comparable. |

So Goc had one less shot than Sutter. I'm done supporting Sutter. Dude strung a handful of great games together last playoffs and almost nothing since.

For the record i am not here to troll. I respect what Ryan Wilson writes and like to beleive i am a pretty well informed hockey fan who happens to live in Western PA. But with that said, you pens fans need to let the 1975 thing go. Its not like the penguins won the cup last year or the year before or the year before that even. Yes the penguins are the superior team right now but 1975 is losing its gusto every year the penguins take an early exit to the playoffs. And while we are on the 1975 topic....it has been 40 years since a cup win and not once did you hear about the flyers moving to Kansas city did you? Now the penguins, hell they won a cup in 92 and were days away from folding until Mario saved them....they have their share of die hard fans no denying it, but man where was all this support through the rough years? |

BORING.... BLAH BLAH BLAH....
Not mad at all here dude. Deep down, your team did us a favor. Our GM was in attendance and, hopefully, saw firsthand that the Pens team needs to get tougher and bigger. And I'm not talking useless Rinaldo tough. I'm talking getting heavier, bigger players who can actually play.
Enjoy your win last night. Well earned. Your team came into the game with an agenda and executed it perfectly.
Its on the Pens now to respond. They either do or don't. |

Good take, Ryan. I agree with it all. If a guy keeps doing the same stuff, ala Carcillo and Rinaldo, that probably means the system isn't effectively deterring them. IMO, enforcers really don't enforce anything. They should be called reactors because they're merely reacting to these nasty hits by fighting a guy. What's the point after the fact? |

The problem is that that wasn't even a fight. Voracek went straight for Scuderi, who was still playing hockey and didn't even ask him to drop them. He just wrapped his head up, dropped his gloves and started swinging well before Scuderi dropped his gloves.
I do agree fighting has a place in the game, but not this "fight" that Voracek displayed. |
