I disagree with this. No team wants to pay out that kind of money for what they will get for how long they will get it. Bottom feeder or not teams have internal budgets. BUF also wants to be competitive in 3-4 years max, Richards is signed for much longer then that. I think it is wishful thinking on your part. And as for Jagr's value, how much has he brought back in the past? I think it would be a good trade for both sides. I actually question it more from the Devil's side. - coffee junkie
Well I wouldn't do a straight swap. I would want there first which shouldn't be much better then what the Devils second is going to be. At the very least I would want a second with him but not a one for one jagr for Richards. |

I agree, I was suggesting the 1st and Richards for Jagr plus was a good trade for both sides. Richards could be shot. Like a fourth liner for life that makes just south of $6M until 2019-2020. He has negative trade value sadly. He has really dropped off the planet.
Edit: I'm not suggesting he couldn't do better somewhere else, just that his trade value is at an all time low. |

Kings don't want Jagr. Kings want defense. The only way the Kings would even consider doing this is if they can't make a deal for a rental defenseman, and this was absolutely the only way to get Richards' contract off the books without buying him out. However, I'm sure there's a pending UFA available somewhere that has less value than Jagr that wouldn't cost LA a 1st round pick.
Like flyfreaky said earlier, the Kings are looking into Andrej Sekera, Marc Methot, Cody Franson and Zbynek Michalek. All of them are defensive rentals, and some of those will require additional pieces to get the deal done. All of those options are better options for LA, even if the price is a little bit higher than Jagr. |

Perfect, I agree, they don't need Jagr and they need D help. Just don't expect Richards to be an asset in any of those trades. He isn't bringing back anything of value and will probably cost assets just to move him, I would be surprised otherwise. |

I don't agree with this. Richards is still a NHL caliber player. He's just performing nowhere near the level he needs to to justify his cap hit. If his cap hit was $3.25M instead of $5.75M, we wouldn't be talking about this.
I agree that Richards has negative value for teams with salary cap issues. However, for non-playoff teams that are looking for veteran leadership and don't have to worry about cap space over the next few years (I'm looking at you Buffalo), Richards would be a welcome addition. - tkecanuck341
Flyers may be a team that will take the full contract for some o picks and Prospects or maybe swap for Pronger? LA gets cap relief by putting him on LTIR like we do and we get a pick or a Prospect with Richards to take the hit. |

brodeur taking another week of leave from blues to keep on reflecting
the leafs will have a difficult time trading kessel due to his bizarre contract as per lebrun
The Bruins, Canadiens, Penguins and Rangers are believed to be interested in Jagr as per The Fourth Period
The Fourth Period: The Kings are sitting out of the playoffs and GM Dean Lombardi is looking for help. They have shown interest in Andrej Sekera, Marc Methot, Cody Franson and Zbynek Michalek. Lombardi will continue to watch the trade market and entertain calls for Mike Richards.
Frank Seravalli of the Philadelphia Daily News: (from earlier in Jan.) Nick Schultz is on a one-year deal and the Flyers may have interest in re-signing him. They were to hold preliminary talks with him a couple weeks ago. *this is great news, no need to add additional dmen for philly - Flyfreaky

Would the Kings consider or have a need for jagr? If so would they move Richards and a their first for him for a package of jagr and something minor- decent ? - blizzzard
