He's a franchise winger so your best young roster player, your top prospect and your 1st round pick - dcz28
Kessel is a good player, i'd like to have him on the Sabres. |

No offense to Horachek, but I don't think it matters at all what he does right now.
He can stick around for the rest of the season, but no matter what this thing should be burned down and started again. Enough is just enough. This team isn't just a coaching issue, it's the whole thing.
The whole fanbase has been put through enough. They need to do what should have been done when Burke was first brought in. Sell off what you can sell off, draft, develop, and do it right. Trying to constantly rush to success has left us in a the worst possible spot. Mediocre. |

I don't know why you would want to add him to a young team. Last thing I would want is young players thinking they can have a work ethic like his and do good at the NHL level. |

Agreed, there is no effort from the players, other than Santorelli.. - PatC80
It never ceases to amaze me that Santorelli is now considered good. Please understand that he is good because he is being directly compared to other Leafs.
The guy --- who has heart --- we loved him in Vancouver, was an expendable piece at the end of the day.

I'm not saying Santorelli is an All-Star, but he does do something that not a lot of other Leafs do.. Gives effort every shift/game |

He's also one of few players who arent "locked down" for numerous years. Look at their contracts, and look at the players who have been doing "better" than others of late...there's a relation between the two

he also makes bad line changes and takes too long shifts.
good value for what he does, but anything more and he's not needed. |

Good Article and Steve represents both the media and fans so well. No point in hiring a new coach until summer. They need to focus on moving or stripping the Captain, Clarkson, Bozak, Gardner, Lupul;, etc.. I'm not convinced that Nonis is the person capable of doing this so I would prefer to see a new GM then a new coach. |

Winnik, Polak and Komarov as well - mr.sir
Couldn't agree more, the leaf's are soft and every team in the league knows it. The captain barks and never bites so what do you expect from the remainder. Nothing will change as long as Phaneuf wears the C. No one, not even Clarkson will come to his defense. Komarov, Winnik and Polak are worth keeping but there will be interest in them as the dead line approaches. |

I remember when Maurice was coaching Leafs.............i thought he was terrible, even players complained there were no systems in place. Very surprised at his record! Think he was just a good motivational speaker for a while anyways - Bullot
Apparently he can make you cry in the dressing room, what a Richard Head |

Oh; I'd be quietly shopping players now, but the returns would have to make sense for the Leafs either from a cap-relief perspective or address some of the Leafs' big holes, which realistically is never going to happen until the offseason. I'm not a fan of making moves just to make moves - they have to make sense, and in Toronto that's an attribute that's been lacking in recent years.
Since they're unlikely to be able to afford to bring back Franson or Santorelli, I'd be okay moving them for picks. I'd hope to hell a contender has a few D go down with injuries and would be willing to take Robidas off our hands for a 7th round pick or future consideration. As far as major moves I'd hold off - I'd hold on to Kessel, JVR, Bernier, Rielly, Phaneuf, etc. Unlike many, I think Phaneuf is an asset to the Leafs and their D would be much worse off without him, but I would move him if I could package him with a dead weight contract like Clarkson - but then again, it's unlike there are any contenders desperate enough / have enough cap room to take that on. - Maritimes
Agree with most of what you said however it is now clearly obvious that Phaneuf has no respect from players in the league and players on his team. I would say he is a good #3 but paid as a #1 so if they can't trade him, it is critical that they remove the C. |

By doing good I mean be a top scorer, I wasn't talking about his overall game. He obviously has a lot of skill and pretty much relies on it to be a top scorer. It's scary to think what he might be like if he actually had a strong work ethic when training/playing and cared as much about the defense part of the game as he does about scoring goals. |

isn't that more of an issue with the team in general than praise of santorelli? |
