I hope they find a way to trade up to 9 or 10 in this draft and find a way to get Rantanen
- homiedclown

I think he'll actually drop to the midteens
He's been inconsistent & there's so many guys playing in Juniors that are having good seasons that I think he'll be surpassed by a few guys. GMs just see so much more of the kids over here. IMO that's why Armia dropped so far. He was rated as a top10 prospect as well. I believe around 6 or 7 actually & I think we ended up getting him 16th.
I could see that happening again
I'd love to get Konecny with one of our other 1sts, but we will def have to move up. He'll prob go mid teens as well

I feel bad for him. Seemed like a fish out of water while he was there.

The ASG is definitely not a place for a guy with a game like Girgs. He makes his bones off of hustle and hard work. We would have been better off sending Ennis.

I think Nolan is here 1 more season . Then Terry gives him a golden parachute. Those screaming for his head now . Just don't want to realize the end game here. He is here to motivate very mediocre talent on the whole . He has had a very positive effect on Myers , Girgensons and Ennis . Who will all be here going forward. No need to rush out and get the coach of the future yet . We are not making the playoffs next year either.
- Maximum Signal

Might it not be good to get the coach of the future in sooner rather than later so he can get used to the players, the organization and so on, and to implement his system? I'm not screaming for Nolan's head, but if we identify our next coach and he is available now (or soon), you don't wait just because you want to give the hometown hero another year of feel-good vibes just so he can "earn" his retirement from the Pegulas.

I think it's safe to say a good portion of predictors had him going about where he went. If he fell it was only a few spots at best.

That article is pretty old. Florentino is putting together a pretty nice season in Providence from what I've heard though.

At their current standings, if they were to have 1st rd exits you'd be looking at both of those picks in the 19-22 range.

yep, and thus picking your player instead of a player falling in the draft

IMO Murray needs to hit with all 3 first rd picks

If they fall in that range, it is conceivable that those 2 plus a 2nd could get you back into the top ten if he wanted to.

I still say

Stafford gets them a 1st
Stewart gets them a 2nd

That would give them like 6 or 7 picks in the top 60.

Why?
- Sabresfan-365

it's a deep draft and the last thing the sabres need is to draft another novotny, zagrapan or persson

if Murray is going to be the captain of this ship, he needs to hit on those picks

Getting a franchise player will lessen the need to hit on picks that will ultimately be 2nd/3rd line players (which they can acquire by trading those very same picks).

It's the luxury of drafting so often over the past few years is they've stockpiled a decent amount of depth.

Cyr
Lacombe
Creighton

Jesus Darcy drafted Heisten, Kryukov, and Novotny in consecutive years. 199 total gp for the three.

3rd line players is the last thing this team needs at this juncture.
