if we get that franchise player 1st or 2nd overall, i would like to see them take a risk on a boom or bust player.. If he makes it he will be a project, which means when we are competing we should have him on an ELC or smaller contract.. If he doesn't make it then we have a lot of other picks to work with. |

Might it not be good to get the coach of the future in sooner rather than later so he can get used to the players, the organization and so on, and to implement his system? I'm not screaming for Nolan's head, but if we identify our next coach and he is available now (or soon), you don't wait just because you want to give the hometown hero another year of feel-good vibes just so he can "earn" his retirement from the Pegulas. - LandlordTom
You do realize if you fire Nolan you still have to pay the next two years of his contract ? I never called him a hero either he is not even a favorite of mine. He is Murray's guy. Murray did not have to rehire him at all. I am just using common sense. Murray's other guy would be Luke Richardson would probably be Murray's next choice. He just turned the Ottawa coaching job down as he choose to stay in Binghamton for family reasons as his daughter is going to school down there. Maybe another year down there and he can be convinced to move.
We are not making the playoffs next year anyways so why waste more of Mr Pegula's money. |

Problem with our top picks is they are still kids. Reinhart isnt a lock to be on this team next year and neither is Eichel just yet (may want to continue college play). McDavid will be for sure though.
I am hoping to see Stafford, Stewart, Benoit, Meszaros, Flynn, Mitchell, Neuvirth get the boot. Gionta makes me wonder if he can recover from injury well enough to be a part of this team, especially if a similar occurrence happens again. Depending on our free agent pick ups and draft picks I think two years we will have a good chunk of talent here as well as a very good AHL team with names like Compher, Fasching, Bailey and Jordan Samuels-Thomas, Cornel, Hurley, Lemieux, Possler
Eventually some of these names have to be dealt cause we have too much talent. Which is why I want a move like ROR or Hall to happen to kickstart our rebuild without hindering our season goal of McEichel

From what others around here have said, Eichel has been quoted as stating he'll leave college if the team that drafts him wants him in the NHL. So it's up to the team as to whether or not he goes back to college or stays in the NHL. |

Happy Birthday to Wayne Gretzky and my wife. He's 54, she's slightly older - and combined they went on to score 894 NHL goals.

Yup. I bet that where ever he gets drafted ends up signing him before August even hits though. |

nice read - homiedclown
I am a big believer in him since training camp. I think he will be looked at as a steal from where he was drafted. That was a very good pick by GMTM. |

The only two portions I disagree with you about.
ROR seems to hate a nickel because it isn't a dime and I believe Neuvirth is their future starting goaltender. |

Haven't seen much of Eichel. He is considered to be a better prospect than Sam Reinhart, correct? |

McDavid is considered to be the best prospect since Crosby. Eichel is a quarter step below him. |

Someone mentioned that had Reinhart been drafted this year, he'd likely be slotted around 3-4. |

Not unless his stats improve.
Nobody is gonna pay him his money if the current trend continues.

Correct. And since he's playing in college, he's used to playing against men, not boys. So there's that difference as well. |

He's on pace for 44 points this season.
He has a similar stat line next year he will not be making 6+ mil. |
